In other news, a weight watchers update from yours truly. Starting at 291 pounds last February, I've just gone past 251, heading downwards. And because it's taken so long, my appetite has had time to keep up, so the pounds aren't going back on.

Once June's paycheck rolls around, it's gym time.

Congratulations, T! That's quite an accomplishment, and done the healthy way. Enjoy the gym!

Neither do disciples of wood.

we do however have issues with mares.

black....cranky mares........they pin their ears when you don't call......bring carrots. Neglect of a good brushing earns a "Scrunchy Face" that could freeze Stalin.

Does anyone know why the Japanese didn't use torpedoes during the Indian Ocean raid? A boardgame (White Ensign Rising Sun) mentioned offhandedly that they were running low on torpedoes, but as a totally unsourced comment, I'd love to find more backup for it.

I'll need to recheck Shores, but.....IIRC, the bulk of the B5N's were used on the land strike while a 2nd strike (in case of naval attack or to use against the base) contained the D3A's.

The B5Ns could carry a much larger bomb load as I recall. I would assume that would make them more useful for land targets, barring the need for precision accuracy.

Oh wow, nice. I started jogging about two years ago to lower my weight---I was hovering around 200 pounds, and at 5'9" that's a little much---and I've managed to get down to 176. I normally do about four miles in thirty minutes on the treadmill at lunch; bracing!

Yeah, the VTs were used in the land strike along with the VBs, while some VBs were held back for the reserve. My question is...why? Surely torpedo planes would have been better to use against ships.

If your talking battleships....yes.

Dive bombers, especially these dive bomber boys......are more accurate than attempting a torp attack, as the Cornwall and Dorsetshire found out in spades. I think the Japanese acheived a record on this one....something like 80%+ hits

Yah, nice job, both of you lardbutts.

All I can tell you is, when I was 18 years old, I weighed 178.

Today, I weigh 178. I turn 60 in July.
