Kristian was right (as usual)...

BTW, I don't like her... for me the beauty equals "Diane Lane" or "Monica Belluci"...

In an unfortunate accident Geraldine is killed when a rabbit out of the hat trick goes badly wrong.

Wait a minute. Where women are concerned, it's only an unfortunate accident when the rabbit dies.

Having owned---and killed---a few rabbits in my time, I'm gonna have to differ with you on this one, Boris.

No, but, see, the test for pregnancy used to be to inject a rabbit with blood serum taken from the woman being tested. If the rabbit lived, you were cool. If the rabbit died, she was pregnant, and you, Mr-Teenager-With-a-Hardon-Who-Found-a-Place-to-Put-It, were about to go through some serious changes.

Hence, the old expression "the rabbit died," which also became a way of conveying bad news in other respects.

"Hey, Captain, any news on whether you're being reassigned in-country?"
"Yah. Just found out this morning that the frickin' rabbit died."
"Well, better you than me."
"There it is."

Uh, no... not really:

"Around 1927 it was discovered that if you injected the urine of a pregnant woman into a rabbit, there would be corpora hemorrhagica in the ovaries of the rabbit. These bulging masses on the ovaries could not be seen with out killing the rabbit to inspect the ovaries, so invariably, every rabbit died, even if the woman wasn't pregnant. The phrase, "The rabbit died," came to be a euphemism for a positive pregnancy test after the late 1920 and early 1930s."

Pas, when I read almost every one of your posts these days, I can't help but think of Rodney.

Yeah, but I don't get no respect, even from my doctor, ya know? Last time , he told me I needed to lose weight. I asked, "How much?" He says, "$500 a pound."

And then, there's my girlfriend Gloria. I went and got her name tattooed on my chest. When I showed it to her, she says, "Who's LORI?"

BTW - i'm not sure when they stopped using rabbits, but by the late 60's at least they had gone to frogs... less expensive, less cuddly... by the early 70's the direct test for HCG was invented.

Quick run-down of my bill:

- Regular annual check-up : $26
- X-Rays : $33
- Filling of single cavity : $199

$258 in total. It's a lot of money for a humble file clerk.

I'm glad I pay for private health insurance, so I'll get $63 back at some point.

I just paid $140.00 for a repaired filling.

Dental insurance coverage was 100%

(100% of the small portion of the charge they were willing to pay)

but at least i got 20 vicodin out of it.

Well, Greg House spent the last five episodes of last season hallucinating massively because of Vicodin, and he's a fictional character, just like LogBoy, so why not?
