This is absolutely hilarious (and, yes, I enjoy being redundant sometimes). The Thread, bless 'er pretty pink panties, child of anarchy, born in a time of "what the hey," has created its own surreal identity that scares those who wander through the entrance into thinking that there are rules here to be followed, "people" here to be respected, and - above all else - courtesy that must be extended when entering, because it is such a frightening place.

Shoot, come back, Osterhaut, this ain't the House of Usher or the Bates Motel...

Correct. And if you shovel enough bullshit on somebody, eventually their olfactory system will overload and they won't notice the smell anymore...

...just tell me where you'll be.
Judas pointed down the road and said, "Eternity."
"Eternity?" said Frankie Lee, with a voice as cold as ice.
"That's right, said Judas, "Eternity,
Though you might call it "paradise.'"

An old pal of mine used to wax philosophical when he got good and stoned. Said one time, "If everything is entropic, where the f--- is it all going? Sounds pretty organized to me. I mean, if every car in New York is headed for the same intersection, it just screams 'order', doesn't it?"

Good old Arlo. He took a 7.62mm right through the forehead one day. When some of us were lookin' down at him in the bag before they sealed 'er up, another of the guys, Max, said, "I knew there was a reason Arlo could see more than the rest of us."

There it is.

The boy is from the islands, after all, so by definition he's not a teenage hillbilly peckerwood, but am curious why everybody's lining up to urinate on him. Niceguy says he's a troll, but I just can't see that. Did he offend someone?

Easy, dude, nobody was takin' after Osterhaut with a castrating knife. The "hillbilly" thing was in reference to an ongoing thread over on the General Discussion" forum, where various and sundry are displaying their brilliant understanding of what has been said a million times before while posing and posturing like a bunch of limp weightlifters so that we can all enjoy their abs and glutes and such.

I found it amusing, in my semi- divine, quasi-mystical way (sorry, the D&D stuff just got to me), that anyone would think there are rules for posting on the Thread.

Osterhaut! Come back, Osterhaut!

We love you, Preacher. I love you, preacher!

Blondie, I am glad we're working together again...

Yikes, for second I thought you were talking about Arlo Guthrie. When I was a young one and singing "Clammo" with him and Pete Seeger he explained to me that I was preserving America by singing "Inch by Inch" and measuring in ounces instead of grams.
