I am designing a scenario in the editor. I buy Soviet '43 OB rockets and they are always out of contact in the editor! I cannot assign them pre-game fire missions. I have checked and both my A0 & FO and the rockets have radios. I have tried un-buying them, restarting the game then rebuying them but after repeated attempts they are ALWAYS out of contact.

Am I just unlucky or is there a trick to this?
Thanks

The only partial remedy I have found in designing the scenario is to up the experience value of spotters and artillery. Upping the morale a bit is a good idea too.

This makes the spotter more dependable and his contact with off map artillery more reliable...most of the time ;)

I've not yet found a sure remedy for this problem. The above suggestion does, however, help a bit.

Hi Larry,

just yesterday I tried to recreate your OB rocket problem, without success though!
I bougth soviet BM8 and 13 OB Rocket units (1943) and they were in contact to A0 unit right from start! Tried the same with the onboard versions and still..contact!
Maybe it´s something special in your scenario setup? What style of battle it is (assult, meeting..)? Did you delete units from OOB and then bought the rocket launchers? Or...are you working on a previously saved game???? The latter produces "out of contact" status very often and is somehow carried through the game when save game is used as "new" scenario! Else worth to mention??

I've had the same thing happen with different types of arty. Here's what I think is the problem: If I've bought various artillery and then saved the game, closed, and then come back and bought more arty, the new arty won't be in contact. My answer is to buy more arty than you can possibly need immediately, before you first save the game, and the excess can be deleted later.

In my scenerio I'm making I'm strickly working on the map first, then placing vic hexes, then I was going to buy the equipment and set it all up.

Is the a good way to design?

Hi Larry:

Try increasing the experience levels. That has worked for me in the past. I guess you need more experience to operate a FO radio than shoot a rifle?:D

I sure dread being on the receiving end of those rockets!

That's the way I do it, except I place the VH's last of all.
