I spent a good bit of time over the holiday weekend playing Harpoon 1 Classic 2002 Gold.  What a fun, fun game!  I had not played Harpoon 1, except for the original, so it's quite enjoyable to play with so many things actually working, like airborne refueling.

I guess my alarm clock is wrong. I could swear it went off at 0600.

Good afternoon, gladiatt and Leo.

Leo, what have you been doing with all your extra free time, now that your seminars are completed?

Mine went off at 1100 (local rather than z ). It confused the hell out of me though, I couldn't figure out (1) what the noise was and (2) why I'd set the alarm I'm not at my best after the night shift though...

You got the airborne refueling to work? Mine never seems to. Or I get a message right after re-fueling that 24 F-14s have crashed due to running out of fuel!

Hi Steve, I did get it to work. Did a quick search in the help ingame and found an entry for Tankers. Include one in an air mission (don't know if you ever need more than one) and send them out on patrol, or whatever. When they get to around 50% bingo fuel, or if you hit Alt-R, the tankers will start refueling the other planes. You'll get a popup when they are finished, asking if you want to detach them from the group, and then you'll see the bingo range circle for the remaining planes in the group expand. I managed to ferry some F-14's from the Ike, off the coast of St. John's, all the way to Keflivak.

It's been a very long time since I played this one, and I'm having a blast. I know Harpoon 3 has much more realistic "everything", but I've heard there are still lots of bugs and issues with it. Classic 2002 Gold is working great for me.

Thanks Mike. I've always had a pop-up ask , "refuel aircraft?". I'd let it go at that. I'll give it a try. Thanks again!

Harpoon Commanders Edition is pretty solid. I've had it for a while, but obviously had little time to play it properly.

How can one write a recension of a computer game that doesn't run more than 5 minutes without CTD?

I have a computer game here that I should review for germany's biggest military journal - and it doesn't even run

I can't seem to get the editor to work on the newest version, and am forced to use an old version (97) that I have.

Woof! Tithe.

Seeking shelter from the storm. Am I non compos, or is this the only sane place on the boards?

Regardless, thank you, thank you, for the refuge; and all who sail in you, too. Ciao. John

That would be me. I got into a bit of pi$$ing contest. All over, we made nicey-nice and peace is restored. And John helped! But yeah, I was being a cranky, crotchety geezer again.

Oh, no, no, no. That wasn't it at all. You and Historiker ended the conflift as well as any matures could. Good on ya both.

No, it was just one of those devilishly sympathetic moments:

Please allow me to introduce myself
Im a man of wealth and taste
Ive been around for a long, long year
Stole many a mans soul and faith
And I was round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate

OK , along with being a geezer,(which I have never denied, and have the thread to prove it) apparently I am now a nationalistic ,swaggering ,jingoistic, chavenunistic @$$ who runs around demeaning Germans. And just when the flames have died down and everyone is smiling again, someone throws aviation fuel on the dying embers! Some days it doesn't pay to get out of bed, let alone to log on.
