What's civil in German might very well be not so much in English. It's an unfortunate truth.

Yes. Nicely put.

Well. You give human communication far more credit than I do. And you seem to think that human society has some kind of worth.

Personally, I'm still waiting for the kaboom...

Oh, brother. The martian waxes erudite by substituting highfalutin' words in his stuff instead of everyday ones.

Maybe H.G. Wells should have written ("authored?" "penned?") "Invasion from the Martian Multisyllabists" instead...

They would have killed Earthlings not with death rays, but with dissipated meaning.

One has to practice.....

It's coming.

Don't mistake a grasp of something's nature for a measurement of its worth.

Bruce , I've been doing that all day. Doesn't work. WTF,STFU,Dilligaff, Fubijar. ???? And I've been apparently insulting people in languages that I don't even speak. Just stay the loveable English speaker that you are , and leave the anoying people to transplanted Yankee's like me. We do it so much better , without even trying.

I get it as well my Martian friend, but telling someone to pick their Gift just doesn't sound right. Not even in Danglish

And your lightning could use a little conduit encasement too, stud. "Psycho-babbelo-extryallidocious doodoo"? What are you so nervous about? Us injuns already nailed Yellowhair. We got nothin' against you ... yet ...

You and your mama big boy.

My shots are clean
And my shots are final
My shots are deadly
And when it's done

You're as stiff as my smoking barrel
You're as dead as a desert night
You're a notch
And I'm a legend
You're at peace
And I must hide

Love ya Pas.

Bah....I'm at least as old as you and possibly older, buckwheat. I get it, and here's your explanation: gift is the German word for poison.

Ooh, ooh, ooh! I can play that game! I went from the USN to IBM, and have spent the last 22 years between them.

Good evening, my interplanetary adversary.

If I knew you were off work today, I would have tried harder to get the turn done for you while at lunch.  It will be winging it's way to you by the end of the "work day" tomorrow.

BTW, I did NOT expect Nanchang to treat my boys so rudely with just one deliberate attack!

Pick me! Pick me! From the RN to IT and 32 years between them I know lots of words. I think some of them might be English!

Hardly Pas. No it's another individual who seeks to yet again resurrect the "Name this equipment thread". You know the one, that like Frankenstien's monster won't die.

Yah, I see it, Steve, I went back and read the latest posts. Forget it, man. It's what always happens when nationality starts being the subject around here instead of, "Jeez, I had two pots of coffee this morning and saw god."

You're one of the well-meaning people around this dump. Don't let 'em get to ya. The way I see it, having a serious discussion about anything but the games themselves on the Matrix forums is about like teaching a boar to ice skate. You might get 'er done, but yer gonna get kicked in the wang dang doodle so many times while yer at it, you'll wind up wishin' you hadn't.

Thanks , you always manage to put things in perspective, or at very least give me a damned good laugh!

Ah, my two favorite people, except, of course for Mike, Mike, Don, Bobo, Dixie, Toe-boy, Log-boy, Leo, Gladiatt, Rogue, Went, Sprior, and everybody else.

But ya know, Historiker is one of the good guys too. He’s different, unique, granted. I know he sometimes sounds harsh; maybe it’s language and syntax, maybe it’s a Central European perspective thing, and he can be a dick, but I’ve never known him to be an a$$hole. He’s had me in stitches more then once and twice he’s had me singing that damn “Wir wollen unseren alten Kaiser Wilhelm wieder haben” thing, and diggin it, because I think I understand where it’s coming from.

The boy is forthright, straight-up, willing to take a position; but also willing to back away and let comradeship take place over the size of his winkie. His positions are not ugly. They may sound harsh, or sharp, but semantically, they are not ugly. He’s just like us, except he expresses himself in a very German fashion, and when he shows his ass, he shows it in a very German fashion. Well, shoot; he’s a German.

Sorry for the psycho-babbelo-extryallidocious doodoo, but I do like the boy, and if this helps my other friends understand him just a little bit better, it was worth it. He really is one of the good guys.

"He’s had me in stitches more then once"
What does that mean?

But some are right. I'm often too arrogant. This isn't a totally german thing (while we don't think we are the master of the universere" anymore, we now think that we construct the best cars, machinery, subs, guns...), it's more of my family heritage. It's always hard for a relative of the emperor to behave not arrogant while being among "ordinarys" like you

Wow, i could'nt think i would be on the list of the good boys.
I usually feel so new on this forum, so dumb with computer, so childish and selfish about my personality, so ignorant about the subjects debated here, so stubornly proud of being french, so wrong-speaking english (and sometimes french ), so "looser" within my PBEM, that i feel i must thanks, even if this post was not about my at the beginning (wich of course i can undertand). Thanks JWE.

Wasn't it Thomas Jefferson who saied: "Every man with culture has two fatherlands: His own and France".

Nice country, indeed - and beautiful women...
