Looking forward to an exciting day in the Swiss Alps for Le Tour.

An absolutely beautiful attack by Alberto there on the final climb. My hopes are that Craig and Bob will finally shut up about "strife within Team Astana"...

Tuesday's stage over the St Bernards will be interesting, but I believe that - barring disaster - the tour will be decided in two more stages: the Annecy TT and the climb up Mont Ventoux. Alberto, Lance and Andreas need only mark the other contenders on the other stages.

Short of a mishap in the TT ...I think Le Tour was decided yesterday on the climb to Verbier. I do not think anyone within the Peleton can hang with Alberto on an uphill finish.

Post-commute tithe for me, too.

Sadly, it's my commute into work.

Is it a good game?

Yup, War Between The States is really growing on me.

It's May of '62, and my Union army in Louisville just suffered a big fat Confederate cavalry raid, which burned and stole my supplies, tore up my railroad tracks and destroyed one of the two cavalry regiments that was supposed to screen me. Damn you, van Dorn! Damn you to heck!

Oh well, at least the naval war had some good news, with Confederate commerce raider (read: no-good pirate) Raphael Semmes meeting his long-overdue demise.

Same here. The uselessness of Union leaders and cavalry at the beginning of the game make it difficult to assume the offensive. There's a very real McClellanness to the Union armies.

Probably the rest of the month off, as you might be "invited" not to return to work!

horay whiskey!!!

I'm sailin' down the summer day
Where fish and seagulls play.
I put my troubles all away.
And when the gale comes up,
I'll fill my cup
With the whiskey of the Highlands.

She's a good old ship
And she'll make the trip
From the lee of Christian Island.

Oh, show me the way to the next whiskey bar
Oh, don't ask why, oh, don't ask why
Just show me the way to the next whiskey bar
Oh, don't ask why, oh, don't ask why

For if we don't find the next whiskey bar
I tell you we must die, I tell you we must die
I tell you, I tell you, I tell you we must die

Oh, moooon of Alabaaa-ma
We now must say goodbye
We've lost our dear old ma-mee
And must have whiskey, oh, you know why

Well, you know I don't write no bad checks.
I have no wish to repent.
I've seen a few, but, whatever I do,
I don't cause no accidents.

Whiskey and wine help me pass the time,
I don't leave no evidence.

Baby step back, baby step back,
Either step up or step back.

It had tremedous poetential, but they were pushing the envelope too fast, too hard. Had they treated them more like ships, and less like over-sized aircraft, and kept in mind that helium , though safer , doesn't produce as much lift as hydrogen. The Navy leaders pushed them right off a cliff.

Yeah, but since they were lighter than air, shouldn't they just have floated off??

You bike riders please explain something to me. How exactly does the team concept in a road race like the current Tour work ? Why is it wrong for a team member to try to beat another team member ? I knew there were teams , but I didn't understand that this meant some members were picked to win ? I am a bit unclear on this point.

Morning tithe, and cool pricing developments with AE. Not the call of any member of Henderson Field, but I think Matrix made the right decision.
