Gadzooks - you would rather have something released before its ready and then complain it was released before it was ready - that's nutty

If that be the case, perhaps you will enjoy the cold serving of a full course of revenge.

Well the game had started two days ago but since nothing really interesting had happened yet, i waited till now to post an update. The game be on at this point:

Rabaul/Shortlands

Things did not start off well again. CS Chitose, steaming to Shortlands was intercepted by S-44 and torpedoed. The good news is that the torp did very little damage by some miracle. Mostly a little hull damage but she did incur several flood damage points .....points that will require a shipyard to repair. She is not so damaged though that she cannot be juryrigged for repairs and continue her duties.

Lunga

As expected, disrespectful uncouth Yankee dogs land on Tulagi and Lunga. I would intervene of course but the dogs have carriers lurking SE of the base. They do not play fair and rightly fear my power.

New Guneau

After several days of prepatory air strikes, Hori Force shock attacks the 30th Bde position. This time luck mainly in the form of weather closing PM for the day, my airstrikes, and good die rolls give the Empire it's first success of the scenario. A clean 2:1 odds (despite 3 fort levels) and for moderate casualties (mostly wounded) we hurl the Aussies back with a single touch of the Iron Gauntlet. Heavy casualties are reported on the enemy side. The path to PM is now open.

IJN carrier flak was atrocious in mid 1942. Even CVs equiped with the most advanced Type 94 fire control system and 5"/40 AA guns had difficulty engaging divebombers before they reached their pushover point. The 25mm light AA guns had only a 4 second burst before requiring reload and while useful against 2 dimensional targets( ie torpedo bombers) were ineffective against 3 dimensional targets such as dive bombers. According to "Shattered Sword" on the climatic air battle off Midway on June 4th, "Of the 146 American aircraft lost to all causes on 4 June, only two would be confirmed victims of Japanese antiaircraft fire". "Indeed, more American aircraft were lost in landing accidents than from Japanese flak."
