reminds me of another one.
A british Pilot is shot down over Germany and heavily wounded in the process.
After two days, he needs to be operated, the left leg needs to be amputated.
He asks to have the leg dropped over England by parachute. the Germanss do so.
After another two days, his right leg needs to be amputated, and again he asks to have it dropped over England. Again the Germans agree and drop it.
After another three days, he needs to be operated again. This time he looses his left arm and again asks the Germans to drop it over England. This time, the Lufwaffe Officer leading the POW camp asks him"You are not trying to flee, are you?

I'm all set and ready for something to do between WITP PBEM turns.  I even have the desktop up and running again.  Now if I can just find those damned codes for the archaic ASDL that we have I'll get it online.  I suppose I could just put a wireless card into it and forget about the codes.

My first Atari computer 800 had a cassette drive, and once I hit "load", the thing would grind and click for maybe half an hour, slowly loading the program, and would then pause.....the screen would turn blue.....and then the error message, "file not found"............

Get the "gun"...................................

BTW, for the kids, Atari 400 and 800's got their name from their cost, back in those days..

Now, don't ya' feel better about the cost of games and 'puters now?

I never had a cassette drive for my Atari 800, just the paper-thin 5 1/4" floppies. My Atari 1040 however used the 'new and improved' 3 1/2" floppies.

Three strings go to a bar.

The first string orders a beer. The bartender says, "Are you a string?"

String gulps and admits, "Yes."

"We don't serve strings here."

Second string orders a beer. The bartender says, "Are you a string? We don't serve strings here."

Third strings ties himself into a knot and frays one end, then orders a beer.

"Are you a string?"

"No, I'm a frayed knot."

The punch-line of the version I heard was "We think you are trying to escape!!!". I think it came from the movie Memphis Bell. Anyway - its very funny!!!

Found this in the news:

In a recent news story from California, the vague line defining the separation of church and state has become ever so slightly more blurred. A development in the northern part of the state has a brotherhood of friars in a legal battle which may grow to constitutional proportions over their right to conduct their business. For many years this brotherhood has been sequestered away in a few meadow-filled acres in the low, forest covered foot hills north of Sacramento. Their only source of income for the monastery was the produce raised in their garden, which they sold to local markets, and to the occasional visitors to their Spanish-style monastery.
There the trouble arose. The visitors noticed that in addition to garden-fresh organically grown produce, the friars also tended some of the most beautiful flower gardens to be found in the state. Soon, visitors were coming to see the flower gardens as much as for the vegetables. And, as the nature of business would have it, soon the good brothers were in the business of selling arrangements of their flowers to visitors.
This soon became such a bustling business that it interfered with their normal devotional duties, and it was decided to move the shops off of the premises and into a small store on the edge of the local town. This shop soon turned such a high volume of business that they set up another store, just for the flowers and arrangements, in a bigger shop in town. Their flowers were so beautiful and arrangements so tastefully done that their business thrived. Now, their shops may be found all through Northern California.
The other florists in the area, whose businesses were slumping, became upset because they felt that the good brothers had an unfair advantage because they do not have to pay taxes on the purchases of their materials, nor on the sales in their shops. According to a spokesman, this means that they do not have the expenses of the others flower shops in the area, which gives them an unfair advantage.
This prompted the other shops to engage an attorney to petition their local legislators to do something. The shops have taken the matter as far as the State House, which is due to due to hold a hearing starting this week on the petition regarding taxation of the friars. At a rally held last Friday, the attorney for the other florists in the area held an impromptu news conference with the local media. As would be expected, the attorney urged the people of the communities to call their representatives and talk with them, and urged them on by saying to all who would listen, “Remember, you, and only you can prevent florist friars.”

A pastor, a doctor and an engineer were waiting one morning for a particularly slow group of golfers. Engineer: Whats with these guys? We must have been waiting for 15 minutes! Doctor: I dont know, but Ive never seen such ineptitude! Pastor: Hey, here comes the greens keeper. Lets have a word with him. [dramatic pause] Hi George. Say, whats with that group ahead of us? Theyre rather slow, arent they? George: Oh, yes, thats a group of blind fire fighters. They lost their sight saving our clubhouse from a fire last year, so we always let them play for free anytime. The group was silent for a moment. Pastor: Thats so sad. I think I will say a special prayer for them tonight. Doctor: Good idea. And Im going to contact my ophthalmologist buddy and see if theres anything he can do for them. Engineer: Why cant these guys play at night?

I have one more-

Three quarterbacks, Manning, Romo and Tom Brady, go to heaven to visit God and watch the Celtics play a game. God decides who will sit next to him by asking the boys a question... God asks Peyton Manning first: "What do you believe?" Peyton thinks long and hard, looks God in the eye, and says, "I believe in hard work, and in staying true to family and friends. I believe in giving. I was lucky, but I always tried to do right by my fans." God can't help but see the essential goodness of Manning, and offers him a seat to his left. Then God turns to Tony Romo and says, "What do you believe?" Tony says,"I believe passion, discipline, courage and honor are the fundamentals of life. I, too, have been lucky, but win or lose, I've always tried to be a true sportsman, both on and off the playing fields." God is greatly moved by Tony's sincere eloquence, and he offers him a seat to his right. Finally, God turns to Tom Brady: "And you, Tom, what do you believe?" Tom replies, "I believe you're in my seat

A golfer was telling his wife: "Honey, you can't believe what happened. I was playing golf with Sam, Terry and Jack -- and all of sudden Jack has a heart attack and dies right in front of us". "That's horrible!", the wife says. "Yes it was", says the golfer, "it was shot a ball, drag Jack, shot another ball, drag Jack again, all over the golf course."

A few years ago the nuclear aircraft carrier Enterprise was returning to its base at the Oakland-Alameda Naval Base when the ship's captain, misreading the tides, managed to run the carrier aground on the mud flats of San Francisco bay.

This event went down in history as being one of the finest examples of . . . grounding the warship you walk on.
