Nothing is ever easy on Easy maps.  You need to expand your deploy areas by sneaking rifle teams or other slap-around units forward against the lower hill's north flank, the center and all along the AT ditch.  The key is to infiltrate passed the schwerepunkts and create evelopement potentials for the next battle.  Make it so your opponent cannot guess where you will press the next attack and make that attack where he is going to be weakest.

Take all of the northern heights that you have penetrated clear south through the AT gun bunker.  It has a SW facing and poor LOS to the northern flank.

Errr.... sorry Feurer Krieg. Quid pro quo, the trenchs on the southern hill provide excellent covering fire on the northern hill. The draw is a death trap.

No worries Drill! Pretty much anywhere on the southern hill provides great LOS to the northern hill.

You are right about that bunker though, it has very limited LOS to the north, but the southern hill provides pretty good cover for that weak arc.

Yeah. Sadly my oppenent doesnt setup like the AI would. I realize I need more coverage and I sure would like to get it all in a few turns. But after a shell lands into a team it no longer wants to do what you tell it to thou (not to mention constant MG fire!). After a few more shells land in them they no longer are alive. Oh, then add in fact we are playing deployment rule, half time the area I get I cant deploy in it next battle because it remains cut off by some random neutral square!

Just trying to get a foothold were I can and take out the german teams I run into at the same time. Hes very smart about dealing with all the smoke I throw out there, I am not just sneaking up a hill without some type of cover. I love the fact its tuff, if it were easy it would be no fun!

Gz...

Turn 3, Day 1

WN 60/716th INF DIV vs 16th RGT/ 1st INF DIV

Morale draw, Germans lost map even with a neutral flag at the bunker.

Comment "this is war" is only meant in the context of this game!

That map has always been a real bear to attack.  Those 20mm's are murder.  Congrats on getting rid of one.

There are times when we are warned "this should only be attempted by a experienced professional". You are warned here, do not do as I did here this time!

Turn 3, Day 1.

WN 20 / 716th INF DIV vs 8th BDE/ 3RD British ID

The nite concluded with sword beach. After the last battle I cant tell you how excited I was to play this one. My two goals here are to gain ground and take out german teams. That being said, the ground wasnt much but it was somethg. Germans cant take this type of punishment to hold this map for much longer. So eventually it will be taken!

Its coming, I am a little slow here, plus tired, when did we finish up like 3:30am?

Start of Turn 4, Day 1.

From top to bottom things could not be more diffrent. AB units have the Germans retreating back to their depots for last stands while near Caen everything is now in chaos. Omaha remains a stalemate with advantage going to the Germans, for time is on there side and every delay at breaking out allows new units to come down to block any possible break out areas now developing.

As this first day begins to come to a end, it looks right now like D-Day may fail! Plans are being drawn up for a possible evacuation off all the beach areas. Russia has been informed of the dire state of affairs and to step up a operations on the east front to relieve any more possible german reserves that could possible be sent to the west.

Weather seems to still be on our side and more men and supplies could still be landed on D-Day +1 if we are able to still hold out thru the night.

Amfreville.

Turn 4, Day 1

729th RGT/ 709th INF DIV vs 507th RGT/ 82nd AB DIV

Not going to post a picture for Amfreville. We are currently in a stalemate position wise. I am happy with what Ive got and Jerry seems happy with what he has left. Once action heats up there again I will post a report from that area. Whats amazing is how much blood was spilled early on there and now its so peaceful. Almost too peaceful really. Scary peaceful I would say!

Although Dog Green has been lost, the limited number of troops provided invaluable time to allow a second line of defense to be setup.

Below is the unit that was probably most critical to holding the map for so long.

Heroes of Dog Green

Amazing.

Just think had that lone infantry man not reached his hand out to secure that last flag just as one of your rifle bullets pierced his helmet, they might have another dozen kills on that map. I am having nightmares about that area!

Shame you cant assign that gun to another BG, because I can tell you right now I'll be gunning for them!

Gz..

Nice work with the pictures and historical color. I try to add some of that to my WITP AAR, I think it helps connect the game to reality.

Keep up the nice work on the AAR!
