I am probably very slow sometimes and I can't even blame the weather, rainy and chilly here. Playing the allies I have for a while shifted troops over the channel from Southampton. I can't really figure out what happens, but it seems I have to have an escort to be able to transport the unit straight to Le Havre in France and unload it the same turn. This is my impression because I have experienced that sometimes I have to move my transport to my fleet in the North Sea and wait a turn to get it to Le Havre, or have I just been dreaming?

Accidentally I loaded a unit on to an amphibious transport and never got to unload it, anywhere! Where my units finally ended up, I do not have the slightest idea. I tried to get them to Le Havre but could not unload it, the button was grayed out. And desperately just to use them i tried to unload it in Axis occupied Holland. That was impossible. Since none of this worked, I tried to get the unit back to Southampton. This is the moment where the whole damned thing disappeared...

The last problem is transport from London. Since the UK units are spread around it is handy to also ship troops from London to France, not only via Southampton. When trying to do so, no ports in France are visible. It seems that I have to move them via the North Sea before I can get them to Le Havre. Or, it just might be me that forgot to escort it with a war ship.

Is anyone able to give me a hand on this? I have been reading the manual, but on this point I can’t seem to get the hang of it.

Lets see if this makes sense

transport, you can ship from friendly port to friendly port in the same turn, or you can move them to a sea zone

put Troop onto the ship
click on the fleet button, you should a highlighted port
click on the highlighted port
click on transport, and give it the move fleet/group order, it will then show you ports or sea zones you can move to
once in new port, click on the transport and tell it to unload
if there are enough open spaces around the port, it will then unload

Amp
put troop into Amp ship
click on fleet button
click on the highlighted port
click on the Amp transport/group and click on move fleet/group
you will see what sea zones it can go to, send it where you want
next turn
click on a enemy hex, that is in contact with the sea zone the Amp troop is in, the Amp Icon should show up, click on the hex and the unit should land, taking damage from enemy troops in the area

now what I have been doing, is to set up a Amp Troop and then also send out 4 or 5 transports loaded with troops

and send both to a sea zone I control
next turn, use my recon and airstrikes to damage the beachhead area, bring my ships in to hammer the defender, then make my Amp landing, and take the port, then, I can go to the fleet button, and move my transports into that port, and then unload them

(remember, Amp you can move, transport you can not)

ALSO, remember to set up a convoy the turn you land, or you going to be sucking wind for supplies the next turn

Great I will try it out! So it is abslutely not neccessary to escort neither the Transported unit or The amphibious to make this work?
I actually just supposed that the troops in France needed supplies and made a new convoy so that was the part I managed:-)

If either transports or amphibious assault fleets are going to be in a sea area for even one turn you had best escort them. Amphibious unit must sit at sea at least one turn to work, and they can, repeat can, be killed during this period. Escorts are a good idea, seriously!

The only exception are transports which go straight from port to port, without a turn in a sea area, and these, I guess, are moving in a mine free, e-boat fee, u-boat free cordon, or at least that is how I see it.

One little trick is to click on the sea zone box to see which ports it is connected to.

These are the ports that you can move transports between during a single turn.

I have been able to use Amph with invading units loaded and invade hexes without problems except it seems that you cannot invade an empty city hex. So convoy supply does not work until you have a port in your control.  The particulas case here is Italy wanting to invade Gibraltar which was empy.
