I'll relax, but here just some of the reasons why I'm getting worked up...

1)Its being delayed because of a fcking(excuse me) ''Printed in China'' Label. That's lame.
2)I only have exactly 30 days of summer vacation left.
3)It could take up 2 weeks for me to get this because I ordered from NWS, so its going take 1 week for Matrix to send AE copies to NWS, then its going to take yet another week for NWS to ship to me.Added the fact that I have limited vacation time left, you can see why I'm pretty worked up.

1) Saying excuse me for something that is not allowed on these forums is nice. Better yet, find better words to use as this is a family forum (this is for your benefit).

2) 30 days is better than 0.

3) You ordered it from NWS, so any additional delay becasue of that you cannot complain about.

Have faith your program will arrive shortly.

Why??

Does Matrix promise delivery X days after order??

Did you expect the Fedex Guy to knock on the door 5 minutes after you placed the order??

Matrix, in trying to service its customers, made the mistake of doing the release before the manual was in country.

Silly mistake for trying .

Erik, next time hold the release for a few weeks and these guys, and only these guys, will be happy. Or find they'll find something else to complain about.p

get over yourself.  It is not unreasonable to expect speedy delivery of a product we have paid for.   I'm not angry that this happened. I recognize that stuff comes up, but my question is hardly without merit.  I didn't demand it, I didn't whine about it, I just asked a question.

Wow I'm really glad to see our taxpayers dollars at hard at work here in the US.

I guess US customs officials have to somehow justify their jobs

I never realized how dangerous it must be for printed manuals not to be distributed without "Made in China" labels.

Kind of like those "Do Not Remove under penalty of death" on those mattress labels

Sigh and I was hoping to see my physical copy tomorrow...sigh

This will create a whole new demand as there will be a version with label and one without .
Must have some value for the real die hards

My European edition (without label) will be up for the highest bidder
How ever i will need to spent that again on a copy with label

If the UK warehouse has had stock since 30 July I don't understand why they're not shipping until Monday. I have to say it all sounds quite lackadaisical.. no one seems to know for sure when they'll ship. Can I get a job in that warehouse? It sounds a lot more relaxed than where I work!

Actually, the manuals were not only in country, but through customs and on trucks less than a day from our warehouses when we released the game. This was the information we had when we decided to go ahead with the release.

I feel the same way right now, they should have shipped by Friday at the latest. They had better ship on Monday morning, is all I have to say about that.

so um, how about letting everyone have access to the download for a few days?

That won't help the people that aren't able to download it for whatever reason.
I thought if you bought the physical copy the download was included and/or the price is same as DL+PHY?

You can choose either (price is the same) - I suppose some people may not have the connection to download easily or quickly so they just get the physical.

I do mate - downloaded at about 190kb/s or so even though my connection is 8MB. Got the physical copy for the printed manual though as the WITP discount made the price (including postage) more or less ok. Work might think I'm weird though when it arrives in the mailroom.

While the immediate issue is purely the fault of the original shipper, a contributing factor is the US Congress, which has imposed the ridiculous "Country of Origin" laws. Realistically, how many of us, besides the unions and a few over-reactors, give a rip about where something came from? Some do, yes, but I'd venture to say most of us are interested more in value (price vs. quality).

That said, thanks to Erik for the honest and thorough explanation.

I assume you will care when it is your job shipped to India. I applaud all the IT and various tech jobs going overseas. I'll get it cheaper.Right? More H1B visas need to be introduced to the hundreds of thousands so cost will be driven down. Those young people from India will do the job for so much cheaper and I will save money. Right? Bout time others felt the effect of lost jobs and downward pressure on wages that we in the service sector have experienced with such an influx of cheap labor. I own and operate a flooring store. Having my men earn a wage that can support a family benefits greatly. Yet when the market accepts prices that have gone up very little in the last 10 years, it is increasingly more difficult to offer that comfort. So you are right. It's all about the money.

I'll wait with patience for the shipment.

Mo Reb

While it's easy to speak about "made in America" and how to keep products made in the USA, the reality is much different. We live in a global economy and very few items are truely manufactured in the U.S. using 100% components also from the U.S..

I took a look at the physical manual of AGEOD's American Civil War game which is my most recent physical copy purchase, there was no label of origin on it. I then examined the game box and saw that it had a "MANUFACTURED IN THE U.S.A." statement.

I am extremely grateful Matrix gives the option of downloading the game at all.
This has given some of us the opportunity to not only realize ambitions some of us have had for years,(new, super duper version of our favorite game), but it has also allowed us to possibly find
anomalies and or other candidates for the first patch.
For those of you new to Matrix, almost all games they make of any significance have *several* patches, not that they released bad games, but because they allow we, the players to have a voice in the direction our games go in the future, and allow changes based on good ideas proffered in this very forum.(They welcome contributors)..

Erik,
If it's Royal Mail then I'm not surprised that they're late. Our once wonderful Postal Service has declined in recent years to a shadow of it's previous efficiency.

Agreed, and the decadence of Royal Mail started when it was partially privatized, no?

Well they tried to do that but the Union (UCW) was having none of it and called strikes. The government has just shelved plans again to part privatise Royal Mail. It's a very thorny issue as a lot of people want it kept in the public sector.

It's not the Royal Mail (yet) - as far as I know whatever the problem was with those orders not starting to ship on Friday it was in the warehouse as I haven't seen any shipment confirmation. I will find out tomorrow morning.

I've just confirmed that they are shipping copies from the UK warehouse today. A lot of the back-orders via that warehouse should be fulfilled today and tomorrow.

The manuals have been released to our US warehouse by Customs, on a conditional release. We are expecting to receive them in the next hour. Assuming they show up, we will then start slapping those stickers on them, which we expect will take a business day.

If Customs then inspects and approves them quickly, we should be shipping them out by Wednesday. If there is a delay in the time it takes for Customs to approve them, it will be longer. We are at their mercy on this and we're just doing everything we can to shorten the delays on our side but we can't control their schedule. I really hope we'll have everything cleared up and shipping out from the US warehouse this week.

Couldn't you have brought the boxes and stickers to the warehouse and done all that in front of Customs to avoid the delay in trucking them, unloading them, stickers, inspection and then putting them in the boxes (shrinkwrapping too) and mailing?
