I'm playing a long WW2 Campaign and I just finished a battle where I managed to get a number of my Airborne Infantry Platoons (German FJ, April '43) killed. They were all elite when they were killed and when I got their replacements next turn they were either elite or almost there (98 or 99 experience.) I just wonder how the experience ratings of the replacement units are set? Are they based on the average of the remaining core units? Are they based on the experience of the destroyed units? Or are they just based on the historical levels (In which case these units seem too good.) I didn't see this information any where in the manual. ------------------ Target, Cease Fire !

Are you sure that the old units really were replaced? I've had problems with immortal leaders, after they have been killed and replaced, they kept their experience and their kills (and their names!). These replacement leaders, did they have any rank? Often my old (dead)leader would return with the exact same experience and kills, only without rank. ("1Lt Muller" would be just "Muller") Keep it up...in 1945 your paras will have 255 in experience (God I hope they can fix this bug) Steve ------------------ Panzerjaeger Hortlund -=Fear is only a state of mind=-

Thanks, that's exactly what it was. I read some posts about the problem but I didn't recognize it in my own campaign. (Or, as my kids would say, Duh.) I too got the civilian (no rank) squad leaders and kept their kill totals intact. ------------------ Target, Cease Fire !

Historically, I think the Germans were able to re-build decimated units to almost their previous level, by taking part of the core of another unit. Of course as the war drove on, the experience level of new recruits kept dropping, and this is reflected in SPWaW. Another possible factor could be when SP announces that a unit has "dispersed", it disappears from the map, but survivors could find their way back for the next battle. I don't know if the games considers these aspects or not. I would probably say not given the known leader bug.

with the reduced squads option one can also try and justify this by saying that a couple of the soldiers from the unit weren't even on the battlefield in the first place, and the new unit was built around them...
