Spellir(German) vs Falco(Russian) PBEM RBG AAR PLAY-BY-PLAY STYLE __________________ {}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{} 1500 points each. March '44 German defending south road and woods. (((((((((((((((((((( I imagined the scenario I was dealt as the counterpunch of a retreating decimated Pz Divison. "Aufklaarung Counter 44" ___ === March 4 1944 X D.Pz Oberst Spellir commanding. ---- Situation as of 12:40PM. After being routed, most of division destroyed. Operations Stabff nowhere to be found. Myself and Major Befel the only Command officers left; and a Major Schmet recently in charge of what remains of regimental artillery. Once the withdrawal affored time and space, I re assembled two makeshift KGs: mine and Maj Befel's. Seeing as there was nowhere left to retreat to (marshes to south west [off map]) and seeing a summit, with Divisional Stab's MG Kompanie stranded there --and knowing the Soviets had to proceed down the only road through the marshes-- I decided to mount a counter attack: I hold the only road off that plateau through the marshes. The plan was to sweep around south-east and occupy the summit plateu denying it to the advancing soviet armour so that korp command could retake the entire area unmolested. I took all the Aufkl and most Pioniers in my KG and swept around to link up with Stab MG komp near the summit. I ordered Maj Befel's KG to dig in in place to my north west [off Map] and protect my north flank. Ultimately he would draw fire from the advancing Soviets that I --being deployed on the summit --would be able to decisively respond to. I ordered Schmet's Artillery, which was far ahead into the Southwest marshes --busily bogging itself in-- to deploy for fire missions. --------- Divisional Assets: ..Most of Shutzen Regiment anihilated. ..Most Panzers destroyed. ..Most Pz Jg destroyed. ..Much of artillery rgt captured. ..Stab and Nachrichten etc unaccounted for. ..Remaining, under my control-- -Auflk elements --including light tanks -Combat Engineers -Pltn Pz IVG ..Some Haubitz (contingent on Schmet) ..Remaining, in summit area, when I arrived there-- -Stab's Maschinen Geweher company (w/ PzShrk) -Some Mortars -remnant one Pz Gren Kompanie --unmounted -PzV(Panther) (recovered) ..Remaining, under Maj Befel (to my north)-- -Combat Engineers -Pltn PzIV -PzJg ____________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ________________ :::::::::::::::: Action at 1:10PM. [Map 0+1] When my KG arrived at the summit's vicinity, it was _already_ being occupied by Soviet SP artillery! Radio link with Stab's MG komp dug in due west of summit informed me there were pltns of T-70 and British mediums assembling, along with some Inf and medium ATG already there. South of that summit, a Sov probe was approaching from the east, threatening surviving PzGrn pltns and our stranded recovery maintainence personnel. In that south area -- back behind the PzGrn positions-- there were three PzV(Panters) recently repaired, and a le.mtr platoon. My KG, arriving in the SW, was in two prongs--North and South. The north prong --PzIILuchs, PiWg, Pionier and ATR-- was set to link up with southern wing of Stab MG Kompanie. My southern prong --PzIV, one heavy recon vehicle, Pionier, Recc truppen and MG-- was to advance east to SE Woods --bringing ammo to PzGrn there-- then ultimately north for flanking run on summit, after linking up with PzV(Panthers) and le.mtrs. But that Sov south probe was a full on Sov Inf btn advance supported by tanks! I needed that SE area secured if I was to move on the summit before the Russian artillery got fully set there and started to decimate the area for kilometers... :::::::::::::::::: ------------------
