8 Jun 43 - The Japanese Battleship Mutsu is sunk, by an internal
explosion, in Hiroshima Bay!

8 Jun 45 - British submarine Trenchant torpedos the Japanese cruiser Ashigara in the Java Sea. She was evacuating soldiers from Batavia to Japan.

Carrier-based aircraft of the USN's Task Groups 38.1 and 38.4 attack the Kanoya Airdrome complex on Kyushu Island, Japan attempting to hinder kamikaze missions.
