Part of Texas history. In 1835 there was a minor battle at Gonzales. Mexican troops were supposed to confiscate the cannon located there. The Texian forces made a flag with that phrase on it daring them to do so. They didn't.

Just bought a new clothes dryer.  I suspect I know what's wrong with the old one, but haven't yet been able to find exactly where that part is inside the contraption.  Then, it's wait for the part to come in, get it installed, and hope that fixes the problem.  The delay is just not worth it.  Paying a repairman is also not worth it for an 8 year old dryer.  Lowes home improvement is bringing a new one on Saturday, hauling it up to the 3rd floor, and hauling down and away the old one.  That's worth my money, and it keeps the boss happy.

Oh, and since I cannot help myself, I think that chap should have stayed in the Scottish hoosegow. Just a criminal justice opinion, not a political one ( I do have my JD )

This is a good decision. Sometimes it is just not worth it, especially in an 8 year old appilance.

Yep. 8 years in jail, a heros welcome. What is the disincentive.

Not to appear pro terrorism here, I am an American, and a veteran.
Let us just consider what any US SOF trooper might do if ordered...(young man, fervently patriotic, anxious to impress superior ranks) and whether that mission might be considered a crime.
My opinion is that the world will be better off the sooner that terrorism gets put back into the 'criminal offense' category (as it was when this guy was convicted) as oposed to an 'act of war' category (as in 'war on terrorism').
Sometimes there are more than two birds lost in the BUSH; and there's little sense bitching about grey areas of our own creation............................Make it a crime or make it a war - but pick one side and stay on it. Nothing cuts without making something else bleed.

I think you are right. That is why I labeled my comment a criminal justice one. He was convicted, sentanced to 27 years no parole, yet here he is, going home. If, as some claim, he is innocent then an full appeal process should have been pursued. This should not have happened. But it has, so we move on

Stuman-

I make no claim to his innocence. None.
Actually, I think there are some crimes where death is an appropriate punishment, although my soul argues otherwise (but then we wouldn't be having this conversation). What I'm saying is that I believe All and Everything is fair in a war. Crimes have parameters determined by societies, and penalties thus prescribed. But for a man dying of cancer (and I admit I didn't know (I think) any of his almost 300 victims), at some point incarceration is redundant. He's going down, miserably.
I was aircrew in the Med during the 'difficulties' with Libya in 1981, and that qualifies me for the VFW. His involvement qualifies him as a criminal - I see some dicotomy there; 'we' got two Su-22s that never shot at anybody, and those guys with the black aces on their tails were heroes.
Maybe God does look (and reach) down. I'm sure that every predator operator that ever hit a bum target has regrets, but I dont wish cancer on them. This is the point that people that can't see beyond the county line just don't get (I hope I'm not referrring to you). We have met the enemy and he is us. I do not equate wanton attacks on civilian populations with collateral damage, but I do recognize that targets for reprisal must be appraised in view of their accesibilty. In a games sense, I have no problem fire-bombing Japanes population ceters. In reality, the pararallels are inescapable for me.
In my opinion. if the US cannot find a better balance of Israeli-Arab(vis-a-vis Palestine) viewpoints, we are doomed to reap the terroristic fruits of our impaired vision.
I may be pushing the political limits of the thread, and probaly should shut up. Thanks for the discourse.

DAMN!! How did I get HERE on a wargane thread?????????
