Also, what does the asterisk in the "TF Routing" field, on the TF screen, mean? And the asterisk in the extended-range field of an air group?

IIRC this means that the aircraft were attacking at extended range.

Status: offline 		Thanks. How about the ** and *** I sometimes see in the TF routing field? I noticed this when I'd ordered other ships to follow/meet. I suppose the asterisks remind me that other ships are following/meeting this one?

Status: offline 		I've noticed an asterisk out next to several leaders when going in to try and reassign a leader to an air unit (may be there for ships and LCU's as well, just hadn't noticed it). What does this represent? Are they already assigned to other units or something?

Status: offline 		On the pilot screen, it indicates that the pilot is also a leader.
On the group leader screen, it also indicates that the leader is a pilot.

If you ask me we have been victimized by an outright asterik conspiracy. There are asteriks popping up all over this game and I smell a rat.

I demand an asterik appendix in the next patch.

Indicates gun can fire horizontally and vertically.

Is there a meanig about the quantity of them?

I attacked a sub with the same destroyer.
Sometimes there were 4*, then 1*, then 3* then None* and so on.
Maybe these * are indicators about how bad the sub is rattled or damaged?

I think it means it's overloaded with groups/squadrons. When you see the asterisk look at the base air groups display and see if it says something like that at the top of the screen. If so you need more bases forces or hq's to handle the number of groups. There might be other things that will help (like support), but I don't know.

I believe it has something to do with the serverity of the hit. *** being more damaging then *.

Those asterisks are there to show it is a different message than the previous message when they say the same thing.

If you see Near miss rattles sub* and then the same message with a different amount of asterisks it means that the sub got rattled another time.

Ha! yeah, i remember PacWar, and before that the old War in the South Pacific on the C64. Those were the days, holding your breath waiting for the next asterisk to appear.....the suspense was almost painful.

In TF Routing, I think it's number of waypoints given to TF.

Status: offline 		And yet more!! As you go though the various Unit Information Screens asterisks abound. Some units have them next to the "This unit is composed of" as well as the individual items within the unit.

There definitely needs to be some legend to describe what all these, and others already mentioned in the previous posts (as well as those not yet identified) mean or represent.

Meaning that this group is training/resting next to it's active missions..... (E.g 30% train plus 30% CAP)

Does anyone know what the meaning of the various asterisks are on the Unit Information Screen? If this is a case of RTFM please point me to the source(s).

More than one patrol level is set - eg cap/rest/training might all have a % but as I can only show one on the screen, the '*' means there are more.

The three asteriks mean that the blow was severe enough to cause coffee to come up out of my nose, slight bleeding out of one ear, and a prolonged dizzy spell. Because I am an Allied player and had "Allied damage control" enabled, I was able to lock myself in the bathroom, take two asprin and was back up and gaming in 30 minutes. A Japanese player might well have died before reaching the bathroom...
