Hi Guys,
I have good news! My friend has agreed to take on Spain, and is excited to do so. He's a newbie at cogee, but a very experienced and analytical gamer, so don't take him too lightly! He's played EIA many times in the past.
The best thing is, I would bet anyone that he won't be the next one to drop out!(hopefully everyone is now in for the duration!).
I will send him the info tonight or tomorrow, and I suspect he will be able to get the turn back sometime this weekend. Just be patient for him to get up to speed.
I will also get your emails to him, and his to you tonight or tomorrow.

Did anyone see the fact that the French supposedly launched a successful "Insurrection" in Munich a couple of turns back?

What were its effects? Anyone see ANYTHING change?

Hey,

If you guys don't mind I would like to know how many surrender points you received.

Also, I will be posting a proposal on revamping surrender and limited surrender once the idea is more fleshed out. Your thoughts on the matter would be appreciated at that time.

Wow, OK that is exactly what I thought you would get.

Hope you guys aren't too harsh on Austria, having declared a war of aggression on me without cause.

Mus, it appears, in the turn that you surrender, you can go to the treaty page and mouse over the enemy that has caused your surrender and see the amount of points they will get beside your flag.

Only 400. I don't have to surrender to Sweden because he isn't allied with anyone.

Anyways, there has to be some compensation for French/Russian/Turkish imperialist aggression.

Please accept my delayed "thanks" for letting me into this game. As Monte noted, I'm inexperienced at COG EE, so have mercy (I'm much more at home fighting in the Pacific in WITP). I keep inspecting my fleets hoping for aircraft carriers!

Anyway, glad to be in the game and I will try and get things done tonight. FYI, I am in the Pacific time zone (Seattle); currently GMT-7, I think.

Welcome to the game. Hopefully you are not yet another lapdog of the French.

Seattle is GMT -8. I live in Tacoma, WA myself.

Correction, we ARE GMT -7 after all. I have some cousins in Italy right now which is GMT +1 so I was thinking about the 8 hour time difference there.

The Polish Army is now avenged!

Russia retains her dignity and shows that she will not stand for being muscled into unsavory agreements!

IIRC it was only the Russian Army that ever engaged the Poles in open battle. I don't think the world's memory is so short that that one is going to be bought.

Russia retains dignity by eating French table scraps and makes "savory" agreements like stabbing Austria in the back after Austria gave Russia 1/3 of Poland as per our agreement?

You have interesting concepts of what is dignified and savory!

Everyone in the world should be able to see the true nature of Russia by now and the dangers of French suzerainty!

Russia agreed to everything that took place between us regarding Poland. Their declaration of war without cause is on record for everyone to see!

As for France, we negotiated in good faith for months before negotiations broke down when France refused to sign an enforced peace, even though France claimed to have no intention of attacking Austria.

Immediately France negotiated a treaty for Austria's neighbors to launch a war of aggression without cause.

French lies have been laid bare! Do not be fooled by the sweet talk of these meglomaniacal tyrants!

Any country that refuses to accept French suzerainty will be treated in the same way as Austria!

As for the Turks, they have accepted French suzerainty to an even greater degree than any other country we are aware of. We have never even received a communication from Turkey. France claims to talk for them at every turn!

Unfortunately, due to the reluctance of any power in Europe to stand up to these bullies, Austria was forced to surrender. This defeat has revealed the need for serious reforms in the Austrian military.

Accordingly, in order to be better able to meet this disgusting aggression in the future, Austria announces a program of universal service and conscription. Important reforms in the extension of property and political rights will also take place in order to foster greater feelings of nationalism and patriotism on the part of the average Austrian.

This humiliation will be avenged and any further attempts to subjugate Austria will be defeated!

Of course you fail to mention that Russia wanted to spare the Polish Army of such a fate. It was Austria, through strong-arming diplomacy and demands that led to its demise. We asked to employ the Polish Army in exchange for land, but it became obvious that Austria was not going to settle for anything less than the destruction of the Polish Army.

If anyone can understand these lies through the Czarina's thick mustache we doubt they believe it, since there is ample evidence of Russian participation and acquiescence. Indeed as you already acknowledge it was in fact Russia that destroyed the Polish Army, putting the lie to your claims.

Given the revelation of Russian perfidy how fortunate it is that we did not allow them yet another weapon to sink into our backs!

We had just this kind of Russian treachery in mind when we refused the idea of a Russian/Polish protectorate! How much more dangerous would this Russian meglomaniac be with 60,000 Poles at heel?

Unlike Russia and France, Austria has always kept its word in its diplomatic dealings and can be counted on doing so in the future! As for the rest of Europe, take notice of your peril! You can expect the same treatment if you don't yield to the unreasonable demands of these liars and tyrants.

PS. Although much of this is true, hopefully bystanders don't need to be reminded that this is a game and all good clean fun?

"As for the Turks, they have accepted French suzerainty to an even greater degree than any other country we are aware of. We have never even received a communication from Turkey".

To the Ambitious Franz II of Austria! The Turkish people actually approached Austria earlier on, and the response from Austria to our diplomatic inquiries was "I would consider an enforced peace for two years". In retrospect it was wise the Turkish people chose to ignore this offer, as it would of excluded us from responding to the Austrians acquiring huge parts of Poland and Italy! If an "enforced peace" is all you can offer it makes one suspicious of the other's true intentions! Perhaps the offer of "enforced peace" was merely a ploy to prevent interruption of Austria obtaining greater hegemony over Europe!

In regards to "French Suzerainty" the Turkish people swear fealty to no one but to Turkey, and it's most wise and benevolent ruler!

The Turks

To all 1792 No frills Players!

"PS. Although much of this is true, hopefully bystanders don't need to be reminded that this is a game and all good clean fun?"

Of course it is! And I never hold a grudge from game to game!

As Mus said earlier earlier in the game:

"Oooooh Tea and Biscuits."

"Glad to see this game heating up."

"All this talk of peace and prosperity was making me sick."

My sentiments exactly!

LOL. France is thrilled to have an enforced peace with Austria. To keep Austria from attacking us! You will note that my only surrender treaty term imposed was an enforced peace between you and Britain. We didn't take a penny. Or even an acre of land. Or impose any losses of any kind of you. We just wanted 18 months where we knew Austria could not declare war on us!

I would hardly call that characteristic of someone who is a war monger.

Additionally, we were not going to take an enforced peace which, as we pointed out in the negotiations, would have left our friends in the east--whomever that may be--without any help should they need it. We counter offered that if France were to accept an enforced peace with Austria that Austria must also accept enforced peace with her own neighbors. Vienna refused, and THAT is when negotiations broke down. It was only at that point that Paris grew suspicious and worried.

Now, who is for more tea and biscuits!?!?!

-Louis XVI

P.S. Concerning the Austrian Netherlands, we paid for that and simply accepted an agreement which was on the table.
