Hi,

I've seen a few posts saying that they've successfully run WitPAE on a netbook. I have a Dell mini10v with a 1024x600 display (typical for a netbook) running Win XP. As the game is hard coded to use 1024x768 resolution how is this possible? Does it just "work" or is there some extra software magic required?

Thanks,
DRF

I think everyone who has used it on a notebook has had it on a regular notebook which has more resolution options.

I run it on my netbook and it just goes into 1024 x 780 and the screen scrolls up or down when you move the cursor (native res is 1024 x 600).

It's a matter of driver settings. Most netbook display drivers let you run sort of a "virtual screen" of 1024x768 even though only 1024x600 of it is visible at any time. You should check your display drivers and ask your netbook manufacturer if you can't figure out how to do it.

Hi,

Just try it. I did not change any setting to make it work on my Asus EEEPc 1008. I would guess that most netbooks are setup to handle 1024x768 by default (but the screen will just show 1024x600 and you have to scroll).
If it doesn't work I would follow the advice from Erik.

PS. Using the netbook right now on my vacation for both internet and WitP AE.

It turns out that it does work on my Dell mini10v.

- Use full screen mode.
- Go to Display->Properties->Settings->Advanced->Monitor
- Check the box to display unsupported modes
- Fire up WitPAE! It will set the screen to 1024x768 and the monitor will automatically scroll.

Thanks for your help!

On my Acer Inspire One netbook running Windows 7, I couldn't change the resolution using the above instructions. Managed to find these instructions on the web, and they worked for me.

1) Run regedit
2) Search and modify all values "Display1_DownScalingSupported" from "0" to "1"
3) Restart the system
4) Enjoy with the two new resolutions 1024x768 i 1152x864
