I will not offer an apology to Eric because he and others in Matrix are not helping the programmers in MWIF finishing the job in a reasonable amount of time. Sorry for talking too much about MWIF on this Wrath forum but that is what led me to the wrong word of robot, again I am sorry for my comment of robot.

We're helping on MWIF as much as possible and we have been supporting it throughout the long development - none of us want to release it too early and everyone has simply been wrong with estimating the release date so far as it is a very complex project. If you want to discuss that further or vent to me regarding your frustrations there, feel free to e-mail me at erikr@matrixgames.com.

Regards,

- Erik

Erik you said if I want to vent to send you an e-mail to the above address which I did at 8:30 edt 9/3 /2009, now either you did not get it, or its too early to answer it until you digest it, or your on vacation, or you want me to be extra nice on the forums and not badmouth Matrix which I wont anymore or the posters, or something else, if you did not get my e-mail please let me know.

Perhaps they should be, but they usually aren't.

Bo, are we to conclude from your posts on another thread that you made these cracks without even buying the game, but only from playing the free demo???!!

It's like voting -- if you don't vote, you don't have a right to bitch. If you haven't supported the game and the designers to the extent of investing your gelt, you don't have the right to complain.

I had been feeling rather more tolerant of Bo lately and had advocated getting off his back. If my conclusions from his other posts are correct... well, we can call in the clans now. (Furious, intemperate and extremely insulting generalizations deleted in the interests of world peace.)

Dear Michael I know better than to get on your wrong side believe me, I said in the first line of my post that thank god for this demo [I guess you missed that but ok] I have supported Matrix for many years and a few times threw my money away [carriers at war eg.] my complaint about Matrix is lack of demo's, maybe because they want you to buy in the blind. This demo showed me good game play but subpar graphics [just an opinion Michael] and I thought the forums were for negative as well as positive interpertations of what the eye beholds. I feel I tried as best I could explaining what I meant by robots which is what I constantly faced om MWIF forums, I carried it over here and I should not have, I stand corrected and that is the end of that. But if you see fit to call in your clans then so be it if you want to ban me from the forums for expressing an opinion whether you call it voting or not then fine with me, voting can also be a joke, just recentely the USA voted nationwide and you saw what happend there.

As I said, quite clearly, I was refering to your posts on another thread. On September 6, you posted (on the "APs and Airborne" thread:)
quote:

I have been playing the demo trying to decide on whether to buy the game or not, there are 15 moves in the demo, how are ap's gathered, none are shown in any of the 15 moves of the demo, and how do you buy airborne? Thank you for any help.

Bo

This certainly seems to infer that, as of yesterday, you were playing the demo and not the actual game. I suppose that it is concieveable that you have bought the game, but were continuing to play the demo for some obscure reason. If that is the case, please say so, and I will abase myself before the community.

Your previous support for Matrix is niether here nor there. As should be clear to you by now, the developers of this game are Wastelands Interactive, a small group of extremely dedicated Poles who unquestionably deserve the support of all gamers dedicated to the ideals of the free marketplace of ideas.

This is Liberty Hall, as Aubry would say, and anyone is free to lurk, or ask questions, or even express suggestions or opinions. IMHO, all are welcome, and my vote certainly counts not one scintilla more than that of someone joining this forum for the first time. But you crossed that line, Bo.

I would never ban anyone from anything for expressing an opinion (the Dear knows I've expressed some beauties over the years!) But to take advantage of the tolerance of the developers, and gratuitously insult the members of this community (many of whom have contributed hundreds of manhours to this project) without having made the smallest contribution anyone can make to something that many of us hold quite close to our hearts, exposes you as a boor, and as a churl, and as a piker, and I shall give those considertions full weight when evaluating your posts.

Bo, don't apologise for having an opinion! There are still a few of us around that aren't threatened by a persons opinion. Why can't Bo give his impressions of a demo? Isn't that what it's (demo) for? There are always people that want to stifle free thought.

I suggest that you read Bo's first post on this thread. He wasn't commenting on a demo. He was denigrating the game and then insulted with gratuitous name calling the members of this community who had the nerve to disagree with him. His comments were ignorant and uninformed and demeaning and by associating yourself with his boorish behavior, vonRocko, you tar yourself with the same brush.
No one is trying to stifle the expression of opinion. My problem with Bo is that his opinion is just that, "free." (A point, which I cannot help but notice, that you have managed to entirely ignore.)

You should not have said anything Von because now you might be considered a boor a churl? and a piker or maybe shallow, the Pole is one of the best insulters on the internet forums. It seems in his post he is p..... off because this is not about Matrix but a small Polish program group. Buy American I say! I wonder Von if his name has something to do with this polish group. Oh well I have not insulted you personally Pole and will not lower myself to do so.

Now this is getting really ridiculous.
I am not Polish, but I guess good game or not, you can stick your remarks right up into your patriotic ***. I don't like your behaviour, nor do most people around here, especially when it comes to Matrix. Harsh comments are welcome, but they better be fair not to make a fool of yourself. If you bitch just so you can exist, go bitch elsewhere and leave honest people alone, would you please.

Yo fishbed easy your friend brought up this polish thing not me I have supported Matrix in the past by buying their products [should not have said buy American sorry]. This post was directed at Pole no one else for telling me past purchases dont matter. Before I shell out 40 bucks I want to be sure this game is for me. Some people have all kind of money to spend in this economy I dont. Too many 40 bucks were wasted before, the game is looking better to me but I did not like the graphics when I first saw them is that a harsh comment, I will be nicer with my comments and tried that in several posts a few days ago but that did not seem to satisfy Mr Pole, be honest fish were his comments all right for this forum?

Guys, relax, take it easy :)
Bo simply doesn't like skin maps we included in ToW, and he was frustrated about MWIF.
There is no way our graphic artists could have made more skins to satisfy everyone, they also have to work on other titles. We were aware of this thats why we decided to simplify creating and adding new skins.

No one brought up anything about Poles except to distinguish Wastelands from Matrix. Your past purchases don't mean anything, unless you happened to shell out your forty bucks for Road to Victory, in which case these Poles would already have given you a copy of the game you're so quick to trash.

No one has a problem with people using this forum to determine if they want to buy the game, people do that all the time, and the community is eager to answer any questions or clarify any issues that might arise from that process (as you have discovered for yourself) -- what we have a problem with is someone who feels like he has a right to criticize the game, the developers (Wasteland,) the publishers (Matrix -- do you begin to understand the difference?,) the beta testers and the community generaly, without even troubling to own a copy of the game that you are so quick to flame.

As for churl, I suggest you look it up. And when you look that up, you might try nekulturny, as well.

I am wrought with fear to look them up so I will pretend they are compliments and go on with my life, also I just purchased the game from matrix so may I complain now or not if I dont like something, good lord I am shallow Michael remember so be nice to shallow people.

Thank you Bleck for not scrunching me with words I dont understand as I only speak English, If you are referring to skins meaning the corp and division icons they are fine with me, it is the terrain the cities the rivers that I am having a problem with, and as for MWIF yes I am burned up at them [Matrix] for taking almost 6 years to complete the board game to the computer and we are nowhere close yet, frustration is not even close for me I am way beyond that, I did apoligize to everyone for taking my ill will against Matrix over this farce{MWIF] on this forum which I was wrong, the Wrath map when I first saw it set me off against Matrix and its programmers, these games are not 20 dollars anymore they are a lot higher with the physical CD which is what I prefer. With the advances in graphics I expected better than what I saw if I am so far off base with this then again I stand corrected. I will look forward to the modders new maps.

Yep! After I finished chewing my fingernails down, I did my toenails.
Finished THAT and now I'm chewing down the cats' (two of them) claws.

They don't approve!

However - NOT complaining. After all, you all know the mantra
You can have it cheap
You can have it quick
You can have it good.

Pick any two.

I am assuming that work is already being started on version 1.52 which will include some "forum like" language in event files to make the whole process are little more "interesting"

I think this is a great game. Very few games on this scale actually simulate the fast paced blitz warfare that characterized WWII. I didn't like the unit counter graphics, so I modded my own. If you look past the graphics, this is a quality game (and I am a picky bugger).

Robot? that'll be the day! Just look around these forums and you'll see lots of people slamming things about games they don't like.
In fact I once refused pointblank to review a Matrix game because it was so buggy and glitchy, and advised them to pull it from sale but was ignored and we had a bit of a row.
But to their credit they didn't boot me off their Press Reviewers List (yet!) which shows they can take constructive criticism and feedback and that they don't want fawning yes-men.
As regards ToW it seems okay to me and can only get better with new graphics etc..:)
