So I was resuplying Midway and had an AK and a DD there unloading stuff (jan 1942). All of a sudden a small japanese task force (1 CL + several DD's) raided the island destroying both of my ships. Next thing I heard was radio Tokyo anouncing that a major battle had taken place at Midway and that I had lost several carriers, battleships and cruisers (forgot the exact numbers).

So a while later I sent up another AK from Pearl to resuply but this time send two CA's and some CL's and DD's that werent doing anything useful to follow the AK. Some time later while my ship was unloading at Midway another japanese raid occured, this time 1 CA, 1 CL and several DD's. This time my escort fleet sank the japanese raiders, only the CL got away. And again Radio Tokyo anounced that a major battle had occured at Midway and that I had lost several CV's, BB's and cruisers.

One thing was really weird though. The first time the AI raided Midway I had some PBY on search there. They did not pick up the incoming raid. The second time I had the PBY's + a squadron of dive bombers and fighters there. Again my air units did not pick up the incoming raid, despite search orders for the PBY and some of the bombers.
Is it possible that the japanese AI has a developed a secret teleport device that enables it to directly beam their raids from the home islands to the central pacific theatre of war?

Nah.  I just think your PBYs didn't see them approaching.  They probably started 6 to 9 hexes away the turn they hit your shipping at Midway.  Kind of far for reliable spotting if you've just got one patrol squadron covering all 360 degrees around the island.  I've spotted these AI raids before and sunk them with carrier air before they reached their target.

Wow, that's strange. Radio Tokyo never lied in real life about battle results.

I personally love the propoganda!

Even in WITP very small DD and CL TFs were hard to detect. Gonna be harder now.. Bear in mind that your early war patrol bombers don't have much experience. That is a factor as well.
