This of course presupposes that the light cruiser of that name isn't built, but it would be a proper name for the battlecruiser.

PS - Does anyone have any naming suggestions for the first (and only completed) Dutch 1047 BC for the BB Variant?

You have to be carefull if you put the Dutch BC in. They calculated with the Scharnhorst battleships and wanted to adopt them somewhat. They asked for the plans but didn't recieve them... for good reasons! The Scharnhorst class was bigger and better than officially announced, so you have to consider that the Dutch BC didn't want to copy the historc Scharnhorst but a kind of Scharnhorst light.

If you need some informations about the Dutch Naval expansion plan, I can give you the Article from Warship Internatinoal

Yeah, I realise this. Really they fall somewhere closer to the Alaskas than the Scharnhorsts as I understand.

One also has to consider that if the first is to have arried in the DEI in say, late '41, plans would have to have been finalised in 1936-1937.

So if youve got anything on it early in the design phase that would be great.

Hey if i would create the Zeven prov BC i would mix it .
Like the CL De Ruyter (yes i know for some it is CA Deruyter) with a "spy mix of scharnhoerst ore even better de Graf Spee.
I really love thoose German BB and BC Had an uncle how served on the scharnhorst .

One more question. What will the deployment for the new ships look like? I mean surely you don't want to put both Lex CCs into Pearl and risk that both will be lost on the very first turn. Also what about the Japanese BBs?

Thanks,

Why wouldn't he? The US had no way of knowing that the eight battleships that were there historically were in danger, and Pearl was the main PacFleet base outside CONUS.

You're 100% right, I'm just hoping he does not want to crash the fun factor

At least one of the CCs would be nice to retain. I'd say let's put'em to escort their CV half sisters

Thanks for the headsup Juan! Sounds good to me ;). Good idea to put a CV into Pearl - it may or may not get creamed and it gives a nice little imbalance to the scenario. Usually as an Allied player one considers the BBs in Pearl as a writeoff, so whatever escapes there is a free gift.

Counting the days to the patch and to your Mod

Hey guys.

With the patch out I can finally start working on this again.

I'm currently travelling, so while I'll be able to get some work done, we're probably looking at a release later next week, as I want to rerun the AtA and Naval Combat tests to see if the modifications I made are still accurate.

Remember that starting US fleet units on the EAST COAST is now an option.

I know, and I intended to have several US and British ships start at either the East Coast or UK respectively. This means you can choose which area to bring those assets into the theatre from.

I've finished work on migrating the naval changes over, so scenario 40 is ready to go. Working on the full changes for 41 now. When those are done I'll migrate them to the Coral Sea and Guadalcanal scenarios, and release 40, 41, 48, 49. I'll release the BB Variant as soon as I'm done with it.

Well, the initial balance of power is still in Japans favour, especially regarding the surface forces. The carrier forces are more even, but the US needs to gather and consolidate its carrier forces first before it can really face Japan.

Initial setup - forces in the pacific only,

IJN;
4 Kongo class
2 Fuso class
2 Ise class
2 Nagato class
2 Tosa class
1 Harima class
2 Sagami class
2 Echizen class
2 Yamato class
(4 BC, 9 BB, 2 Modern BB, 4 Super BB)

2 Amagi
2 Taiho
2 Hiryu
(6 CV)
-2 More CV due in the first half of 42

USN;
2 Nevada
2 Pennsylvania
3 New Mexico
2 Tennessee
4 Colorado
2 Lexington
2 North Carolina
1 South Dakota
(2 BC, 13 BB, 3 Modern BB)
-3 South Dakota due in the first half of 42

2 Lexington (one damaged)
1 Wasp
2 Yorktown
(5 CV)
-1 Wasp transferring in the first half of 42
-1 Essex transferring in the first half of 42
-2 Essex launched in the first half of 42

I'd say the USN can probably take a good shot at engaging the KB in mid-late 42. Of course, this is likely to go either way, and its not until mid-late 43 that they can really crush it for certain.

Its going to take until mid 43 and the Montanas however, for the USN to get its qualitative advantage in surface forces back. By late 42, they'll have the numbers, and radar will probably help, but nothing to match the 4 super BBs on even terms.

PS; Finished converting everything for Scen 41 except the new Allied aircraft. Should be done with those today.

I agree..the IJN still has the advantage for a good while in the game allowing the IJN player to maybe go for longer range objectives and see if the Allied player is willing to fight to hold those bases he/she considers vital..etc Suva maybe even Bora Bora..

Hi Juan,

"PS; Finished converting everything for Scen 41 except the new Allied aircraft. Should be done with those today."

Is 41 the full mod or just the database changes? Hope it's the former... :D I know I know I'm too impatient and forgive me for that :D

41 is the stock AE scenario with all the DB changes. Its actually the most work, as I have most of the ship class files for the BB Variant done already.

There are a few minor errors in the databases for v5, so the next release including Scenario 42 will be v6.

These are mostly related to the ammo changes for BB/BC/CA's in Scenarios 48 and 49. Ships in these scenarios do not have the increased ammo values found in 40/41.

Something I neglected to mention in my last post;

Anyone who is playing this, please forward any 'interesting' or odd surface or air combat reports to me via PM or by email. I have done a lot of testing, but it cannot compare to the amount that gets done by players themselves.

So if you see something that makes you raise an eyebrow, let me know.

PS: Sorry for the triple post.

PPS: ~180mb worth of downloads in one day. Thanks guys!

If the AE Team ever releases a 1942/3 scenario, I'll happily convert it to either Scenario 40 or 41 standard. However, I've heard that this is unlikely.

I have no plans to do a 1942 scenario of my own, atleast not until I've released BB, CV and Balanced Variants of AltWNT, in both standard and enhanced flavours.

Even then its a massive undertaking - I've come to respect that just having done Naval OOBs for the AltWNT scenarios, and its no doubt easier to do when you're the guy coming up with the history, not trying to dig it out of a plethora of reference materials, some of which are no doubt extremely obscure and hard to come by.

One idea I've had is to do a complete AltWNT guadalcanal campaign using full mod OOBs and so forth. Or a Philippines campaign in the same style.

Chances are that at that point in time I'll be really busy making sure everything stays up to date and correcting for patch changes that all my 'hobby time' will go to this...so I wont have enough time to undertake the effort to create a 1942 scenario to satisfaction.
