Rather than trying to place every unit when creating a battle, is it possible in any way to use the generated battle capabilities with specific OOB's. Say, if I want to play a game with some interesting units thrown in i.e. a unit of Tigers, without having to place every single unit of an OOB? It would be great to be able to choose opposing OOB's and then just click 'generate battle' using them.

This can be done, but requires a bit of rebuilding custom oob's. I've dabbled with it, sometimes though they don't work, go figure...

You may be able to create your OOBs to replace the stock ones for generated battles. Be sure to have a backup copy of the originals so that you can go back. Using JSGME will allow you to also switch back and forth after you finish a battle.
