Hi!

Ive been playing vs AI, testing what would I do playing PEBM. So far so good, most thing are planned but I still have some "holes" in the grand master plan

1. How far to go into south Pacific? Wich bases are must, and why? What forces do you propose to be used for those attacks and later for defense? How soon do I have to go grab those places?

Anyway as you can see Im pretty short on forces for attack in the South, maybe Im commiting a bit too much in DEI and around?

2. What good are those TB ships for? Small attack groups or just leave them as convoy escorts?
They seem rather uselles in escorts since they really cant take any punishment and have no DCs, also so far I had no luck at all with my TBs (torpedo boat?) launching torpedos?
I guess same question goes for PC's, few of them around and they also seem useles. No DCs on them also, so their use as escorts is questionable....

Ill post more question later, thanks goes in advance for anyone that finds time to answer thesee...

I´m sure many people on this forum has great (secret?) plans for 1st turn.... I can remenber one phrase from an old Witp guide that is useful for sure...

"Inflict as much damage to the enemy in the first turn,
Prevent his shipping from escaping the SRA and establish total and utter air superiority over it.
With this in mind, decide on a few bases that will need to become IJN airfields yesterday " yesterday

I´m pretty sure the TB and PC type ships all upgrade to something useful, i.e. something with depth charges. Until then you should probably keep them someplace where they don´t get in the way.
Also take a look at your destroyers - there are one or two classes that start out without DCs; you might want to keep them in reserve until they upgrade to something with DCs, which happens fairly early on if I remember correctly.

Something else you might want to do when you get around to it: convert all Tosa and Kiso class xAKL to PBs - they are way more useful as escorts than as freights. On the other hand, you might want to convert all Ansyu class PBs to xAKs.

Hi Streptokok (nice name, by the way).

I like the TBs. They can convert to MGB (or something like that) where they carry MGs and DCs. With their short range, I'll most likely keep them as TBs in a Surface Fleet in a base on the fringe of the Empire where I expect an enemy naval bombardment. Even if they don't cause any damage, they'll cause the enemy fleet to use OP points to react, which will reduce their bombardment ability -or- reduce their ability to run out of range of my air power by daylight. Everything has a use! We just need to find that use.

This units are in Sendai, or around Sendai in the begining of Imperial expanision , some are preped for Singapore from day 1, do I really send them into Malaya/PI/DEI or are these usable in Pacific?

Oops, my mistake. I thought you were talking about MTBs. Did you click on the Upgrade button? That may be different from the E upgrade.

There are several xAKs that convert to ARs. Kyushu and Husimi classes. You start the war with over 50 of them. Keep in mind that it takes a long time to convert them. A year, I think? (Someone help me out here.)

You can use them wherever you want. Just a note though - those units belonging to the 16 Army are part of the 2nd Infantry Division. If you ever want that division combined, I wouldn't scatter them to the four winds.

Yup. The conversion takes a year and can be ordered from April/May '42.

The Otoris are quite nice 30knots and ok range 3 * 5" , remember a lot of subs surface ,use them as escorts for your invasion fleets in the DEI it helps when ABDA Cruisers and DD show up. Later when your on Defensive convert them.
