I just started today experimenting with the scenario editor, in view of eventually making my own scenarios. Following the manual's advice, I want to start with a small scenario. However, the smallest I can get is 40x100 (small map button). I have played scenarios from the game which have a 30x30 map, which is the size I would like to start with. I read the map creation chapter and the FAQ as well but could not find any mention of it. Could someone let me know how to make " minuscule" maps? Regards, Christophe

Ah, a WAW gamer with the same tastes as me. We're an odd bunch Christophe, so we gotta stick together. I'm sending you a zip file with blank map templates wich enclude the small maps. I'm currently creating a campaign with all smaller maps that will encompase the whole world war. I've used the 30x30 in the past but found it a little small, I found the slightly larger 60x40 and 50x50 to be a lot of fun and more practical. The small maps are fun too, you just really got to watch how many units you put in the battle, too many and its just a mess. So check your email, and you should find a file in there from me. (you know what they say about guys with small maps, eh? ) BTW, can anyone tell me how to attatch a zip file onto one of these posts. I cant seem to figure it out. I'd like to post the zip so all can enjoy the fun that is small maps. Cheers Surfer Umm, perhaps I should have check this before posting the reply, but Christophe, you did post you email address buddy. Let me know what it is and I'll fire off that zip to ya. Thanks Silentsurfer, I'm sending you an e-mail with my address. I was actually not aware that the "small map buffs" were such an exclusive club! I personally find it difficult to play monster scenarios. I prefer those up close and personal fights... Regards, Christophe

With Fred Chalanda's Wawmap utility you can make maps of any size you like under the largest of the monster maps. You start with a standard map, that you clear completely. you then make your small map on it, save it, get out of SPWAW and open Wavmap. Select the shp directory from the file menu by opening the shp directory and double clicking on any file in there, load your map and go to options/"inspection mode". In the window that appears there are fields for size in the bottom right hand corner. Enter the size you want ( I think that the coordinates have to be both even) , press "retain", go back to the main wavmap screen and save your map. If you do this with a blank map, you will have created a template for yourself that will allow you to produce many maps of that size without having to use Wavmap again. ------------------ Fabs [This message has been edited by Fabs (edited November 05, 2000).]

Glad to be useful, Chris. If you have any problems with wavmap, e-mail me at fabio@mantegazza.demon.co.uk or visit Fred's site: http://freds.webprovider.com/ He has a page for questions. ------------------ Fabs

SS, You don't actually attach a file to a post, you link to it. What you need to do is put the zip file on some web space somewhere. Get a free webpage from Geocities if you don't already have one. Then just create a link in you post to the file. ------------------ Billy Yank I don't define "my own" the way you want me to.

We sent out a package of ten maps of varying sizes, Christophe in one of the SPWAW updates. Did you not get those? Drop me an e-mail and I'll send them to you. Sizes vary, 60x40, 50x50, 30x50, etc, etc. A number of scenarios have already been done on these smaller maps that are in SPWAW. Just post to me, and I'll get them off to you. You can also download them right now from the SPWAW map depot. Just go to Game Depot and click on maps. You'll see a list of the varying sizes at the bottom of the map. Wild Bill ------------------ In Arduis Fidelis Wild Bill Wilder Coordinator, Scenario Design Matrix Games

Thanks Wild Bill, but with Fabio's advice I was able to use WaW.map to create a 30x30 template. I am now experimenting with different map sizes. Thanks to all of you. Regards, Christophe
