I have read the manual, some sections twice.

I have a province in France that is captured by Turkey or I think it is, it has the Turkish flag. I have an army there, they will not capture the province back even though I am still at war with Turkey. How can I get my army to recapture the province. all they have there are 3 generals and no troops.

Next Luxemburg, I have it captured as wall as Flanders, Flanders became mine Luxemburg says it is mine but has a Flanders alliegence or something, How do I get it to become mine.

3rd, Several of my provinces say enemy 2 and in the victory conditions on one of the screens it says France 1 or Enemy 2 some of these are my provinces, what does that mean> and how do I deal with it? I have tried armies and diplomats with no luck.

Even after reading the directions I am still not able to transfer squads from one division to the next.

Is there a way to create diplomats and generals?

My supply depot in Lux is killing my cash, I'm still not sure when to supply and when to forage, I'm just over the forage immage.

Guess enough newbie questions for one post.

Hi WebRider

Provinces do not fully change ownership due to battle. The issue is settled in the peace treaty-make sure your war does not lapse due to inactivity. You can also cause a rebellion in an occupied province with a diplomat-then DoW the province-that might give you the province even though the war is continuing against the major power.

Enemy 1 or 2 is part of the "goals" listing value-not what is actually happening. Those values come into play if you actually occupy a province which is a "goal" or you loose one during war. The number value is on the map in one of the map modes. I was tripped up by that one too.

Strength transfer is not explained very well. Try the procedure in the "Military" dialog. It does work. Any updated manual should expand on that procedure.

Diplomats may be purchased, but are very expensive-and you need a seven court level province to do it. Generals may appear after battles, or have a scripted arrival date-they cannot be purchased.

Each province will have its forage capacity listed in the bottom info box. if your force is smaller than that amount-switch to forage (if no battle is likely). Putting units into a city reduces costs and eliminates the need for a depot.

Hope that helps.

2 more problems I am having.

1) Moved an army into Baden owned by Austrians whom I'm at war with. They have a garrison in the city. I can't get my army to seige and capture the province they have been there for 4 turns, after turn 1 I created a supply base there and made sure they had the supply command instead of forage still no combat.

2) Austria owns Palatinate, with an army there. It will not let me move an army to that province from any adjacent province.

3 This could be a good game if moving and capturing provinces seemed more under control rather then WTF this should be simple to move and fight but it seems unnecessarilly complicated.

Do you have sufficient numbers in your army to initiate a siege? Each wall level requires 15,000 to lay siege. If there is a lever 5, that means 75,000. The enemy forces inside also count-each garrison unit counts another two points and infantry 3-if at full strength.

I don't know why you cannot move into a province with which you are at war with-I have not experienced that-yet. Have you checked in the diplomacy dialog to make sure you are actually at war with the Palatinate? Perhaps Prussia gained control of it?

Ok got the siege thing fixed with sufficient numbers and now that is cool. Still can't move into some provinces for some reason. There is even a road I should be able to move down. It is controled by Austria I can't even move a diplomat into that province. I am going to start a new game and see how that goes. I wonder how the 1795 scenario with a 23 year time limit and 5000 or 10000 glory would be as a Grand Campaign. I like going through the French Revolution, but when does Napoleon show up? I lost the game I was playing to Sweeden, Spain was close behind them, I was 3rd. Time for another try. This time with advanced economy. This is a fun game once I get the annoying things that bite me out of the way.

Is there another resolution besides 800 x 600. I normally play games on my big screen tv at 1900 x 1020. It doesn't look bad at that res but is there a way to change it in the ini or something>?

Thanks for the help on the Seige that fixed me there.

Why when I capture some provinces they go to the blue boarder of France and some keep an Orange boarder with a blue boarder inside it?

If you start in 1792, you won't get Napoleon. There is a mod that will make that happen for you-All General's Mod.
The 1792 scenario gives you much more time to balance things out with the advanced economy. You should read the advanced economy guide included in the last patch-it will do wonders for you-not kidding. You may be able to double output by knowing just a few things.

I have set my graphics card to let the program choose its resolution to whatever the game wants right now-seems easier. The native resolution on mine is 1600X1050. CoG fills the screen properly.

I'm not certain about the border colors fro France, but I suspect the all blue borders indicate that province is a "goal" province. An expert should be along anytime to set this issue straight.

Glad you got the siege problem worked out-of course, there are additional refinements for organization/upgrades to accomplish sieges.

Tis a great game-enjoy.

ADDIT: I fired up mine and had a look. It appears that Upper Palatinate (I'm assuming that is the one you meant) + Augsburg + Munich makeup the Kingdom of Bavaria, so Up Palat is not an Austrian "home province." If it is a protectorate, it will have a unique dashed line inside the main province border. If not that, then probably the enforced peace situation. If neither of those . . . well you got me!

It sounds like you got 1 under control.

(2) my guess would be that you have in the not too distant past arrived at peace with Austria? After a war ends with a peace treaty, there is a period of "Enforced Peace" during which you cannot declare war. 18 months I think it is. If you right-click on Palatinate or better yet an Austrian province and see if you get the Declare War option that should confirm it.

The other possibility I could think of is that Palatinate is a protectorate of Austria, and I think in that situation, you might have to right-click on Austria home territory to get the DoW option.

If you just want Palatinate (can't remember where that is or if it is a home province of Austria) and do not want a war with Austria you could consider setting a Diplomat to go into Palatinate and cause an Insurrection.
