Sorry, maybe i should have
1) deleted the
2) or explained it: i don't want many casualties. I am a bit angry because the governement and the medias are making a real psychose of this, and nothing scarring happen. From where i work, i can tell you this seem a "fake" ....

The media in this country almost orgasmed when they reported that the "experts" predicted 1.5 million sick people and 3,000 deaths expected. The reality is less than 1,000 infected and ONE fatality, and the rate of infection has slowed to less than a trickle. Even if the number of registered infected people is 1/10 of the actual number there's still quite a ways to 1.5 mill.

Storm in a tea cup. Let's move on.

i agree. But the security service of the state (at least here in France) continue to "mobilize" and study this thing as if something enormous was growing. Well, of course, these service are ordered this and cannot do else (and thus i am ordered to "count" the infected...); but the different officers are just thinking this is a waste of time and effort....and on private discussion, that it's a good decoy to hide something else ....

Nah, this is just the old mantra of civil services everywhere:

"We must do something"
"This is something"
"Therefore we must do this"

It's the same sort of deduction that gives us:

"All dogs have four legs"
"My cat has four legs"
"Therefore my cat is a dog"

One should only check the data for the "oridinary" flu that happens every year... flu is a flu... it can be deadly...

I think that a lot of people didn't know what the flu would do. What they knew for sure was that there was money to be made from it.

Hmmm I'm just a tad cynical at 4:50 AM.

In the US, tens of thousands die every year from "regular" influenza. It doesn't get reported. I believe there are less than a few hundred confirmed deaths from H1N1 total over the last year.

What we've seen over the past couple of years is that all the so-called "experts" (no matter the subject) don't know more than the rest of us. The fact that they can get cameras pointed at them just brainwashes people to think that they do.

We have a so-call self-call chemical expert in our service.
He usually say that every student in chemics could do his job, but he is the one doing it, and he get WELL paid for this . Usually, experts are not experts: they are in the com, or sellers ( they don't sell good, they sell advice !), or are close to the political power.
But they are not real experts

The real experts who are doing actual high-level work in the sciences have little interest in media attention.

I don't know about H1N1, but there sure is some flu bug going around.  I know several people who have come down with it.  Like most flu it doesn't put you in the hospital, but it will lay you out for several days and might send you to the clinic for an IV.

Yep, I had it about 3 or 4 weeks ago.  Put me in bed for 3 days, and then took close to 2 weeks to get rid of all the lingering congestion.

Not true. Look at the US torpedo thread. A two minute Internet search makes you an expert. proof positive.

That was funny enough that it is worth keeping the subject line defacement.

Well, duh...

there have been 10 in the dfw metroplex all with underlying health conditions. now lets do the math people that 10 out of 10 million. that would be a .0001% of people in the dfw metroplex have died from it.
