Question for Tankerace:

Were the Yorktown and Enterprise based on an actual proposed design?

Thanks,
Chuck

Not 100% on a real design, but based on how documents I read stated that if war broke out then ships would be converted from suitable merchant ships and colliers. So, the Yorktown represents what I feel would have been a "likely" conversion scheme based on British experience with the Argus and the U.S.'s success with the Langley.
