Hello- I know this topic probably been discussed before but would like to know:

It would be nice if you could actually see your Naval units on the ocean hex grids of the game map. Is this possible to do in a Mod, future patch? And if this would work for enemy units as well so that you could see invasions and a better overall strategy of the naval game?

This would give a better overall picture of where your fleet is, etc. Or if possible a Naval map mode depicting where your ships are at and if any enemy ships are near, etc.

Thanks for any feedback.

Hi GF I agree with you and this has been talked about infinite on the naval aspect by Michael and others but again not to get on your wrong side I could care less in TOW but in SOP it had better be done right. To me this is strictly a land warfare game nothing else, and the naval games flows around the land game quite well but not realistic, in other words it suffices for me but that is just the way I look at it. I have complained to no avail about posting on the screen what ships were lost in battle. I only know if I count my ships or write their names down before battle and then take the time to see if any of them have been sunk after the battle, this alone would make the sea battle okay for me.

Like many other "Old Farts" I don't do Twitter or Facebook or uTube or MSN or ICQ or all the other time-wasters. I still play wargames, though.

I have given a direct link to WI subpage, if someone is interested and wants to discover more about our games may click on it, otherwise may  neglect it.

The Twitter screenshots pretty well clear up this question of ships being on the map. Very intriguing.

One entry says: btw a separate map for Sino-Japanese war is in progress, look at its breadth http://bit.ly/1skXcs

Does this mean a separate Sino-Japanese scenario? Will the war in China not be a part of the campaign game?

Twitter also gives answers to these questions :)

From all I've seen, it looks like SOP will be a Stand Alone game and not an Expansion of ToW.

Is this correct?

Most likely a global version, but they better get the "turn fatigue " toned down with a better UI, otherwise this game will be doomed as no AI will be able to compete for long. The abstract vs the realism balance is where its at.

It will have to excel in the PBEM / TCIP aspects where its mano on mano(turns of an hour max) if it wants to survive and an intuitive editor will help.

I see Michel that you have deleted your post... but I red it before... believe me it is not a pleasant feeling to read such comments of yours regarding the game which is not released yet...

I want to comment only one sentences (let the rest of the post stay in abeyance):

This is exactly why, imho, we will never see any improvement to the naval game imported from the Pacific game to ToW.

“Never” is an extremely  long period of time, “any improvements” is so categorical... Both give very small probability that you are right.  Especially in this particular context when we are just after release of one patch and before another patch. Anyway how could you know whether we add anything form SoP to the last patch or not? It might have happened that this sentence had been wrong even before it was written....

So, is this a hint that there might be a big beautiful lavishly wrapped present under the 1.70 Patch Tree.

Which is exactly why it was deleted. As far at what might be in the next patch, about 90% of my frustration with the last three months envolves the dozens of posts and emails that we've (both myself and other members of this community) have written, politely, and in a spirit of friendship, that havent even recieved the courtesy of an acknowledgement.

Incorrect 76 Days till the end of the year, 69 days until Christmas Eve. Don't forget the eggnog and I hope you aren't a last minute shopper, I mean developer.

He giveth, and he taketh away.

Now really, Michael, you know I support a lot of the suggestions you've made, however ... I just have to chime in here to say that if Wastelands can be accused of anything, it would NOT be that they are unresponsive. In my fairly lengthy gaming experience, these developers listen and are more responsive by an order of magnitude over most other developers.

Michael, perhaps it will help you if you regard the forums as a bulletin board rather than a private correspondence, conducted publicly.
You post your comments and KNOW that they will be read, but don't expect a personally-addressed response to every one.

I agree with gwg. The only other developer I've ever encountered which has been so willing to engage with their clients was SSG and they're not in the same class as WI, no disrespect to SSG intended.

That's a reasonable deduction, SeaMonkey. In fact, the name means nothing at all to me. Could you please clarify?

I'd like to throw the name of Stardock CEO Brad Wardell (aka Frogboy) into the ring as well as a contender for most responsive developer.

See his journal for the Elemental beta: http://www.elementalgame.com/journals.asp.

Yes, Wastelands is responsive and so are several other devs....

He's the genius who decided to use squares for Strategic Command 2.
