I recently started a PBEM game of NII. After completing the first turn as the French, I saved the file and e-mailed it to my opponent. When he tried to open the file, it asked him for a password. He had none and was unable to open the file. Upon trying to open it myself, the file again asked for a password. I experimented with severa lwords but none worked. I couldn't opoen the file. The manual has nothing in it concerning a security process and the one PBEM I played before required none. It appears that one of the updates may have created a security protocol. Please advise.

Great, maybe now someone at Matrix will finally pay attention.  Scott L., a member of iNWC, and I are experimenting.  We went back to the original version, 1.02, and started a new game.  The "password" screen showed up when I received his file and tired to "start" a game.  I put one a password in, but thereafter no matter what I did, the game did not start, just went back to the beginning of the section process.

Last year I played an PBEM game with another guy for a while--the security system never reared its ugly head.  We played several turns by e-mail, no password screen ever arose.  He then disappeared, which was weird because he was winning handily as the Austrians, and unfortunately the saved PBEM files from game are long gone.  I have no idea what I did to start that game and avoid the security system; I didn't even know it existed until Scott and I tried to start a game in 1/2010.  If do you happen upon the answer, please let us know.  My e-mail is georgemeyer@msn.com.  (I also belong to iNWC.)

Well George we might as well forget about it because now my copy of the game no longer works....  Wonder if someone deactivated it....I uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted my machine, cleaned all of the folders out...won't load....

I spent well over $200 replacing games that Matrix sells that all of a sudden my CD's stopped working....now it appears be doing it all over again....

At least my other games still work....I really want to like Matrix, but they continue to have games that are just lemons and rip unsupecting people off....  Campaigns on the Danube is a perfect example and so is this game...

Oh well let's play HPS or Forge of Freedom or something else...something that works....
