Does any one else have this computer problem? Everytime Microsoft "updates" my Vista 32 it continues to send me into "The blue screen od death" every time I try to do something (like play a game or go  online). Any suggestions? It usually takes several days of consatnt re-boots to finally get the machine serviceable.

I'm still on XP, Steve, but I haven't seen this on my wife's computer with Vista.

I wish that I still was on XP, but unfortunately that died with my old computer. I'm seriously thinking of upgrading to Windows 7 as soon as it's released. But with my luck, that will probably be worse.
I wonder if I should totally "scrub" my computer and return it to "back in the box" condition?

I reload computers all the time at work, and that is generally the recommendation for a situation like yours.... IF you would not be losing a bunch of data. If it's a viable option, reload it to a clean OS, then run the windows updates manually, several times since some updates only get applied after others are already applied. Once it says there are no more High Pri updates, you should be good to go. Of course, that assumes it's not still having the problem after updating.

Windows 7 sounds like a much better OS than Vista, but it's all second hand info for me so far. I haven't laid eyes on it yet.

True , but do I have options? The "blue screen of death" is getting pretty annoying. As is being off line for days at a time. I'm afraid that I may completely "lose it" and as my wife says (usually in her struggle with the Washington DC bureaucrats) "Skip the frustration and go directly to high explosives and firearms!".

Thanks Mike, I appreciate the advice. I've read everything that I can grab on Windows 7, and the Pro's concur with you.

The usual, personal attack, demand for civility, etc, etc. At least this time I think it was in defense of another , a person very much worth defending.
