Czert,
it was Günther Prien, nicknamed "The bull of Scapa Flow". He entered with U47 on his second patrol Scapa Flow in the night from 13. to 14. Oktober 1939 and sunk on the second attack (first two torpedos dud) the HMS Royal Oak.

Otto Kretscher was also a german U-Boot ace awarded Ritterkreuz with oak leaves and swords. Kretschmer survived the war and died 08/05/1998 in Straubing (close to Munich were the world famous german beer an weisswurst came from) Bavaria Germany.

Wish my sub commanders would react to anything; if they aren't run over by the TF's, they don't react at all.  I've got them set to 1 hex reaction and the TF's go right past them without being noticed, apparently.

Royal Oak sunk when she was preparing to fetch her planes in open sea and not at Scapa flow. Though I believe it was Prien who got her.

Sorry you don`t know what you are talking about, try again Royal Oak was anchored at Scapa Flow in Orkney, Scotland when she became the first of the five Royal Navy battleships and battlecruisers sunk in the Second World War.
