2) If you set 'React to Enemy', does a surface combat TF give chase to detected enemy task forces? If yes, how does this work since both units have to have the same destination hex for surface combat to occur? Actually, the answer is yes. Surface combat fleets will react to enemy forces in a couple of circumstances and chase them down. This usually occurs at a friendly port, but sometimes it occurs at an enemy port. It only happens when the surface combat fleet has a goodly amount of experience. PT boats will often chase enemy fleets (On the Tokyo Express) into the port at Lunga and engage them before they bombard. They can be 3 or 4 hexes away and still they chase the enemy fleet into port and engage them during the night phase. Major Surface task forces will also reply to enemy fleets in your port, if your fleet has enough experience. In the case of the Tokyo Express, this is rare, because your major fleets need NIGHT experience to respond. However, with the bug in version 1.1 the Japanese fleet stays in your port during the day, and your surface fleet will always make a run (On its own) to engage the enemy. Furthermore, with enough experience the PT boats will also occasionally react to enemy transport fleets in enemy ports. This was a hoot watching 10 PT boats, on their own, run into Japanese ports to engage the enemy. Experience is the determing factor. I've seen my PT boats assist me (Of their own initiative) when I attack the port at Shortland. --Avenger
