Has anyone determined the best settings (Altitude combinations for Vals, Kates, Zero Missions, fleet range to target etc..)

I would like to produce the maximum torpedo usage and BB sinkage.

Torpedo usage is determined by random chance.  The only control the player has is to increase the number of torpedo carrying planes on port attack {change all your Kates to port attack}.  I believe the stock setup has the Kates on Zuikaku and Shokaku on airfield attack.

Vals are next to useless against battleships.  They can be effective against other ships.  So if you send Vals on port attack, set their alt at 10,000 to 14,000;  They will dive bomb begining at 10,000 {more accurate} and bomb in 4 plane formations which spreads the bombs over a larger nmber of attacks {more likely to hit something smaller and more vulnerable}.  Dive bombing from 15,000 or above will cause them the attack in waves of 9 planes which concentrates the attacks making it more likely that more Vals will attack battleships.

If you are going to make more than one attack on Pearl, your first attack should not neglect the airbase.  You will not want an effective CAP waiting for you on the second day {nor a lucky bomb hit on the Akagi from neglected bombers....you are a long way from home}.

When I plan on a multiple day PH attack I usually set 1 or 2 of my Vals on rest on day 1 and 1 to attack the repair yard, 2 on airfield and 1 on port. All Kates attack the port. I also reserve 1 or 2 groups of fighters on rest for day 2 activities.

On day 2, I rest the most fatigue / worn out fighter / Val groups and do the same all over. I hit the airfield with at least 2 groups of Vals and the rest on the port or repair yard. You need to keep the airfield damaged so nothing can launch or the allies may get a lucky shot in on a CV which has a long way to travel to make port.

If your playing 2 day turns make sure you give the strike a heavy escort (I would suggest at least 70% of the Zeros). On day two of the first turn I lost 60 Val and Kate pilots to the CAP because of lack of escorts

Oh, shucks, Lad. Just let me set up the Allied Side. I always seem to get twice as many torpedo hits as the Imperial Fleet had available torpedoes. To compensate, all I ask is the chance to time warp some P51s in to replace the P26s.

As it stands now the historical result of the PH attack seems to occupy the low end of the bell curve of possible. Typical damage reported has roughly 85% of all bombs/torpedoes carried scoring some sort of hit.
