I am very interested in finding a way to assign overall AA values for ships. Unfortunately, I don't have a good appreciation for how the values for each AA weapon affect the overall weapon ability. Here's what I have so far:

EFFECT: this seems pretty straightforward. It would seem to be the ability of one shell (or burst) from the weapon in damaging or destroying an aircraft.

CEILING: also seems logical, the maximum altitude at which the weapon may engage an aircraft

RATE OF FIRE: this is one I can't quite figure out. It would seem to reflect the rate at which the EFFECT could be applied to an aircraft, but I'm not sure why this wasn't incorporated into the EFFECT value. Also, some weapons (such as ground AA guns) have a ROF of zero. Perhaps it is a probability that a weapon may engage a target multiple times? This is pure speculation.

Does anyone have any information about how these values interact to produce the combat results?

Thanks!

I'm leaving them alone about it until after the next patch is out. Figure they have better things to do right now. I'd like to come up with AA, ASW, and SC ratings for each gun, apply that to each ship class, and then list the values on the QR sheets. To do it though, will require input on how each gun value is weighted.

In any case, they obviously already have a method of computing the values in the code...or they couldn't reduce the AA value for TF's of over 10 ships for one thing.
