I might not be able to complete this. It's just too hard trying to figure out borders.

Maybe just add place names to key sites on the map.

I am currently adding country names and borders to the game map. I am trying as best as possible to get the borders correct, but it's not easy. Here are a few screen shots of what I have done so far:

very nice!!
but don´t Kevin see it...........he will get a shock if he sees England written over his beloved Wales!
and Terminus will also be shocked, because Denmark seems to have lost some Islands to Sweden......

Here is another progress shot. I'm about halfway finished now. Slow going, for sure. I am trying my very best to get the borders as close as possible based on town names.

Hey Swift, maybe I should move 'England' to the right a bit.

Good work!

Sweden should be the country with no radar, Denmark had the radars as it was occupied.
The border between Germany and Denmark should be more horizontal than diagonal. Keep the border a little above Flensburg though.

Hitler rearranged your borders, sorry. But seriously, these borders are not exact due to where some of the map markers are located. But I'm doing the best I can. I am checking to make sure the the map markers are located inside the correct borders. Obviously these borders are not exact. Do not use them for real-life navigation.

Last night I checked the Hungarian borders by the place names in the BTR. You're right the borders can't be done correctly 'cause the map isn't correct.
This is an addictive great game but not perfect. In the real life - what is perfect....?
Thanks for your work and I'll try your mod in the evening.

Correct. The game map wasn't totally accurate in the first place. That what was so frustrating for me when making this mod. I had to research and cross-reference town and location names to make sure they were within the correct country borders. The game map and markers represent more of an abstract approximation rather than an accurate topographical map. But I can live with that.

I hope you enjoy the mod.

In the next version release I will probably add city names, such as Paris, Berlin, etc.

Yes, me too. That is one of the main reasons I added city names. But I did find a couple of small mistakes after uploading. Will have eventually to release another version to correct.

Hi Deckard,

First I want to thank you for the mod, as it makes navigation easier and cities look less generic now. However, I'd though want to ask for certain changes, in case you'll push out another update. Some German names are mispelled (should be renamed in Magdeburg, Regensburg, Breslau) and would it be possible to remove the black dotted frontiers? Those look artificial and don't match to the map style.

Hello Lützow. Thanks for using my mod and pointing out the mistakes. I am planning on releasing another version with the name corrections. As far as the ugly black dotted borders- I agree. They are too dark and don't match. Unfortunately I cannot simply remove them. I will have to redo everything. But I will probably make the dots more transparent in the next version (like the map names). I suppose I could also release a version with only map names and no borders if players requested it.

Deckard,

Just a suggestion but if you use a graphics editor that supports layers (The Gimp (freeware), Photoshop etc), you should put the borders on a separate layer with a transparent background. Same with the city names.

That way all you have to do is make the layer invisible (one click) before you export to file to create different versions of your map (with and without borders/city names etc).

Hope this makes your life easier,

Also, I will make the borders more transparent than before, but not too much so. If they are too transparent, they won't be visible on certain parts of the map (mountains, etc). Therefore, they will have to remain somewhat dark.

Hello palocfarkas. Thanks for using my map mod.

I got side-tracked with my Lower Aircraft Kill Rates mod, but have started working on the map mod again. The next version should be done within a week or so.
