For those of you who don't use twitter...
The map of Asia (a separate scenario) http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/8387/asia4.png (the map is still in development, the screen is taken from the editor which will be added to the game )

and the terrain in the game will look like this:

and for those of you, who prefer the classic set of hexes http://screenup.pl/set/09-10/jqlkwyipr.png

Real pretty pictures! But if the AI is as bad as TOW, I'll pass. Previous posts and threads say the developers don't have many resources to commit to a decent AI. Well this is why. To much time and money spent on pretty pictures at the expense of doing the hard work needed for a good AI.
IMO

You would be right, if the people who make graphics and maps could influence AI performance or if AI programmers and scriptwriters did the graphic content (instead of coding...) Those things are separated, at least in our case. Also if the cost of pretty and ugly things is the same, why choose the ugly ones? :)

And this nasty AI... Those who really have the resources, do not bother...

I have to agree with you there.
I know I'll buy the game anyhow (that's one of my problems),so please try your best.
Thanks

Believe or not, but we try our best so I`m sure it will be even better game than ToW.

Looking promising, Anraz.
Of course, I'm already committed because the theatre has been neglected and there are those personal/family connections, too.

Game is looking good, but for us PBEM fans can you give us a "ballpark" estimate about how long it may take a player to complete a turn with all belligerents at war?

Will any of your hard work and best efforts put into developing SOP, benefit ToW somewhere along the line?

It is very good question, also it is a very difficult question to answer, because it depends on size of scenario (while playing Iwo Jima a few minutes is enough to complete a turn, but while playing the biggest campaign it requires much more time) and a player's way of playing (personally I prefer to spent less time and plying dynamically, even if some moves aren't smartest ones, while other players favor chess like style of playing). I think everyone will find what please him best.

Is a complete world map scenario with both games merged be possible in the future?

And if not, is it limited by the game engine, pc hardware or something else?

In case of future of this line of code (SoP)...well... everything depends on how successful “Storm of the Pacific” will be.

BTW We are making the other game, Bitter Glory, which is based on our own engine, the game has world map and hundreds of thousand hexes, but it is far from being completed.

Wait, so tow and sop are not based on your own game engine?

And i just looked at bitter glory and it looks like it has a larger scale than tow. So it looks like a different concept. Or am i wrong?

You are right. The engine is licensed and we are pushing its edges :) This information is also given in credits.

BG is much deeper in terms of everything...so once again your are right.

Concerning that ship - is it one ship, or a task force? I hope the latter.

GUI looks impressive, more map!
not so convinced about the hex icon and exploding tank icon, a little big me thinks. And all the fluff around the minimap frame seems excessively thick.
-but looking forward to getting this one.
Screenie request: how about some Australian units, perhaps in New Guinea?

I like.
I'd prefer a khaki or green background instead of the blue, considering that much of the map will also be blue and "Air Fighters" could be better expressed just as "Fighters" - but they're minor points.

I like.

Looking great.

If that ship pictured is part of a task force of multiple ships, then on the map it should be labeled as Task Force Whatever, instead of showing a ship name.

Better yet just give us the ability to change the name. Make sure we have enough character spaces available, 32 should be sufficient. "BB TF 22.1 Flag "Phoenix"

Right you are Chuck, silly me, city names are cruisers, no state that I know of named Phoenix.

Perhaps the icon could be tweaked, looked like a BB to me at first glance, should've noted the 2nd con.

USS Phoenix, a light cruiser actually, was the only ship sunk by a nuclear submarine. Just thought I'd share that interesting fact.

Hint, name and navy change, pre sinking.

Light cruisers are CL. CL or CA if it sails into an exclusion/war zone it still gets sunk.

By the way I think the ship icons are a bit large in relations to the map and the 2D land icons. I realise that you want to show off the detail but you should also consider proportionality?

<Correction to the second sentence, although initially reported sailing towards the zone it was actually sailing away......I do not want to start any flames here)>

Yes, I know light cruisers are designated CL, but in RtV "Patrol" groups were designated CA so I made the tag that way.

You are correct about modern nuke boats being a huge overmatch for cruisers laid down 47 years before.

I would like a fleet icon, showing multiple ships, rather than a single ship sprite. In general I prefer counters over sprites and a TF symbol would be great. I would also love "hover over" technology to show the contents of the TF without having to click. Of course some WW2 TF, and TGs would be too large for tooltip display. A simple indicator for TFs with a hex display would be fine by me. At this scale, nine hexes between LA and SF, there could easily be multiple TFs inside a hex.

The more I look at sprites the more I like counters.
