Llamas are dangerous, so if you see one where people are swimming, you shout: "look out, there are llamas!".

Yes, they are dangerous particularly because of their big beaks that they use for eating honey.

A classic

My folks live down the road from a llama farm . . . ranch? farm? Farm sounds better actually. They do very little except stand around with expressions ranging from 'jesus it's hot' to 'why am I in Texas?' They're quite sinister looking, must be the reason for the MP skit.

They're ruminants. All they do is stand around with constipated looks on their faces. Only have teeth in the lower jaw.

There was a llama farm in the town I lived in back in Minnesota.  They did literally just stand around.  Even in the Winter, they never looked cold, either.

Not to be too llamacentric (what am I saying, that's what the Thread is for) but what do you raise llamas for? Never had a llama burger, a llama hair coat or seen a llama 500. Wikipedia compels me.

Llamas spit.  Other than that, I haven't a clue.

A few farmers in the UK have started to use them as Guard Llamas to protect their sheep. Apparently llamas are quite protective and will chase off predators like foxes and, er cats and badgers They seem to be smarter than sheep as well (although what doesn't).

And I'm off to bed.    It's been a long day and I'm tired.  Plus my legs are bloody painful today, not sure why as I haven't done any running...

Mostly it's a hobby / pyramid scheme. By the book, llama wool is useful in producing yarn and they *can* be used as light pack animals, but nobody does. The llama / alpaca boom in the last two decades is reminiscent of the bubble in Ostrich farming throughout much of the US. Once no more new farmers were really interested in making an economic go of it, the market collapsed.
