Are there unofficial rules you agree on, to make the game more interesting and fair in H2H?

I read in the -PzLehr vs Feurer Krieg- After Action Report that they agreed on a "Deployment Rule"
(? can someone elaborate? I couldnt find anything forum searching or googling it.
But i imagine you are not supposed to deploy anywhere you dont have access to from a VL of your color.)

Others use a so called gentlemen agreement not to use more than 350 pts to equip for the
upcoming battle.

Anything else one should be aware of?

Deployment rules are as you have guessed. Can't deploy in any area that is not connected to a VL. It helps rectify some situations the just wouldn't make sense. Also can make it a bit more challenging for the Allies on the beach.

Another thing we do is that on some river entrances, it is possible to deploy on the 'other' side of the river. We treat those areas as off limits as well to make sure that the tactical value of certain bridges remains intact. Once you've fought across the a bridge then you can deploy on the other side all you want.

In GC format that would be a bit low. Ive seen 1000 used before in WaR, but I think unlimited is the way to go (again for GC play). Very seldom do I load up with a lot points (ie being tank heavy) and if I do its mainly used as support to offer cover fire for the infantry (a few beach maps comes to mind ). Out of all our battles (there have been quite a few) ive yet to see playing with unlimited points be an issue.

Deployment agreement is probably the most important one I can think of. We use it as FK mentioned not only regarding VLs but also for the bridges.

Gz..

Thanks for the explanation.
It is a relief.
I let my men run like headless chicken around in the backyard to make
it impossible for my enemy to deploy there next round, or just to make
sure he hasnt deployed there already. It's a pain in the ass.
Loosing time and probably a team due to a mortar feeds my paranoia.

And i didnt think about that bridge thing before.
It makes perfect sense.

Another agreement comes to my mind.
Not to use more than one mortar each side.
But that maybe an artefact of pre-patch-times.

well we use only the deploment rule (we call it a VL rule)
No points limits as we find it unfair when you have a panzer division you should take all the advantages of having such a thing. Also, when playing with morale on, you have to be carefull, as loosing a tank makes a significant morale drop...

If you take too many mortars - you will simple loose. :)
