Hi all,

For me, it obviously depends on how many raids I have to plan, which again depends on the weather and the state of my units. Half an hour isn't unusual.

Thanks for info Kristian!

BTW, what scenario you guys play?

Double PBEM (i.e. one in 1940 and one later in war) or just single PBEM?

BTW, how is PBEM against Martin?

Slow Work keeps getting in the way of the war. Stupid 12 hour days...

But you guys do enjoy it I hope!

BTW, how long it takes to make a turn (German and Allied)?

Leo "Apollo11"

In BOB, playing as the RAF depends a lot on what T has planned. The last turn took about 15 mins all told, including moving my units around.

My BTR turns as the Allies against swift take an hour or more to plan when the weather is good.

We're playing the 1940 capmaign (Eagle Day). T is too scared to play as the defenders

So far I'd say I've just about had the upper hand, but it's been close in places. We've probably both learnt some useful lessons, I know I have.

Few questions...

#1
Is it at all possible and useful for German player in BoB to attack the Spitfire / Hurricane aircraft factories and RollsRoyce engine factory?

#2
Is it at all possible and useful for Allied player in BTR to attack the synthetic fuel factories in Germany early on? Similarily what about German power plants?

Leo "Apollo11"

1) It's possible, I'm not sure how useful it is. In BoB the Brit factories disperse to various locations if the main factories are put out of action. It's an inconvenience to be sure, waiting for the factories to retool but in a way the dispresed option is a better choice for survival.

2) Bearing in mind I'm in the early days of a '43 campaign... Both are useful targets, hitting them early on would have a greater impact than hitting them later in the campaign. But you'd end up gutting the bomber groups long before you took the targets down to a critical level. The Ruhr is about as far as you can get whilst providing any sort of fighter cover, and that 'cover' will be terrible.

Early days in BTR you're better off attacking France/Belgium/Holland with the VIIIth. There are plenty of low-mid level factories about to gain experience on. Plus a few of the "direct" impact targets, aircraft factories and the like. BC can get sent into Germany though, window gives you a nice boost in the early days. I've just sent 540 bombers into Germany and lost 2 (1 Lanc over the Ruhr and a Mossie over Hamburg).

The strategies needed are different. In BoB there is a need to do things quickly, the campaign is short and there's quite a lot of work to be done. The two forces more or less maintain their relative strengths. In BTR there's a lot more work, but you have more time and the attackers will get stronger in relation to the defence.

There are better strategists for the USAAF than me, so there might be better advice out there for the VIIIth AF.

I was ambushed by a raiding band of Mescaleros in the upper Zambezi.

The whole collider thing was just too much of a temptation, so I came out of retirement briefly ... kind of a Favrenomenon.

Actually, I'm on vacation this week, so I figured I'd make y'all's lives miserable by way of celebration.

Have you heard my new heavy metal band?

Feeling blue today

I was walking down the road yesterday, I crossed the road and went into a bar followed by a Scotsman and an Irishman.  Then I realised my life was a joke....
