I suspect it's not what you're looking for but my son has just downloaded Brothers-in-Arms onto his iPod touch and he's having a blast.

A quick google turned up this one wargame which seems to be a bit Risk-like but I believe there are many more.

It's not exactly a wargame but the Battle for Wesnoth has been ported to the iphone ipod touch.

I'm not sure whether this is it or not:

Yes there are quite a few really good turn-based strategy games for iPhone/iPod Touch. Check out Romance of the Three Kingdoms Touch, Rogue Planet, uniwar, Lux Deluxe, and various other games. The iPhone/iPod is a better device then PSP/DS for wargames and gaming IMO and many games are still coming out for it.

Yes, I think that's the root statement sabre, wargames being in the pipeline for the iPhone but not a ton of hard core wargame releases as yet.

If you are asking for WITP or something like that then no you will not but there are many very good TBS games on iPhone. Here is a new one that just came out:

http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?threadid=36013

For information visit toucharcade.com it has all the good and latest iphone/ipod touch game review/forums and upcoming games. (No I am not associated with toucharcade at all) just info from one gamer to another.

The original question was about an iPod and I have to say that I have sworn off playing any games on mine...I have downloaded a few games which were fun, but I felt that I was using the wheel way to much for my tastes in order to play the games....since my ipod is primarily for music, the last thing I want is to find is that the wheel no longer scrolls because I either wore it out, or broke it outright, due to excessive gaming use.....

Makes you wonder -- it's probably got more horsepower than the PC I used to play PacWar on back in the early 90's.

This guy makes some claims to game designs that I find a bit difficult to believe.

I did learn a lot from reading postings on his forums. Particularly on copywrite and trademark, patents, etc.

What claims are you skeptical about?

Oh, he claimed somewhere that Microsoft stole his game to create the Close Combat series. Among other things. I downloaded his game and I thought that it was very similar in it's basic concept to the CC series. But it seems unlikely that MS would steal a game like that. However he does some pirating of his own of game designs, hence the comment about learning from his forums on the topic of copywrite, trademark and patent issues associated with games. So his claim feels a bit like a chicken and egg situation. Although it's obvious that he himself is not above making compter versions of existing board games, the same is not really obvious regarding MS.

I see your point, but the same could be said about SLAY v. Conquest! Medieval Realms....there are just so many games out on the market now that alot of chicken or egg arguments can be made...
