Charlie Brown's teacher is talking again...

(I'm not a wine enthusiast, John, but I'm glad you found a good bargain)...

9.6 Woofs is impressive, though...

I've never understood the point of wine testing. I mean, anyone can see if it's red or white ...

Hi. Found something really good. Thought I would pass it on. Was running out of the ordinary Pinot for the holidays and went to the wine store. He was all out of the Drouhin – oh, depression. But then he went out back and came out with a bottle of some stuff he said would drink really good. It was a bit young so I took it home, decanted, and let it sit for a couple hours and had a taste. Hoot!! Pazooties!! Stuff drinks like a Drouhin ’86, and it’s only $35.00 a bottle!! OMG! Cote de Nuits and Cote de Beaune better watch their keesters.

Ok. It’s Californian; label is Arcadian, 2006, Sleepy Hollow Vineyard, from Santa Lucia Highlands. Taste per buck is rated at 9.6 Woofs.

Was impressed, really impressed. It’s a teensy, weensie, weensie, weensie, bit thiner than a Grand Cru Classe, but for $35 a bottle vs $350??!!!

Definitely check it out if you get the chance.

I think I'll cut and paste this into an email for my wife. She has a bit of wine knowledge. Maybe she can explain it to me.

Thanks for the tip, John.

Mike, I think you will love it. It's structured like a French Pinot. None of that overwhelming Cali perfume crap. This is a real, live, honest to gosh, BURGUNDY! Astringent, but fruit, lots of fruit in the mid pallette, some tobacco hint on the back, and mushrooms (once it breathes). Super complex. I started writing when it was only 2 hours open, but now it's a couple hours later and the tannins are softening even more.

They weren't harsh to start with, but as they soften and the pallette opens up, this little jewel is drinking like a Premier Cru (goddam close). Shoot Mike, this one is a winner!

It's looking like this one is heading towards 9.9 woofs, on the taste per buck scale. Jeez Louize.

My wine guy gets this direct; winery is small. If ya want some, lemme know. I'll grab what I can.

J

59 minutes and 59 seconds after the press release about patch 2, somebody wants to know when patch 3 is coming out.

I want that person to die in a lawnmower-related accident and his remains to be devoured by gophers. Does that make me a bad person?

Nah, only if you were operating the lawnmower at the time.

It does qualify you to be a judge in Texas.

It depends. Does your fantasy involve actually propelling the lawnmower personally or is it just a figurative desire for this person to be minced by said lawnmower? If you actually act upon the former fantasy, then you're a bad person. If merely daydreaming about the latter, then you're perfectly normal.

Well, mostly.

Hey! You edited in the gophers bit!

Alright, NOW you're a bad person! Why wish for small gophers to have to choke down his greasy entrails?

This is the guy who wanted to feed me feet first through a wood chipper. I asked him if he only wanted to watch. He said he wanted to do the feeding.

Not that there's anything WRONG with that...

In my home town, we had a small college and a local girl named Kelli (yes, with an "i"). The college guys called her "pepperoni," cuz she was the best topping in town, if ya know what I mean...
