Not mentioned is that the scenario starts with the OK and AZ about to sink, so the Japs will get credit for the two BBs sunk in PH.

I agree this is an excellent way to handle the points for ships sunk in the 12/8 scenario (Today's Scenario!)

I disagree the IJN will get points for two BBs sunk. In my game they will only get points for two BBs Scuttled <G>

I'm not sure I agree with the Oklahoma being a total points gain for the Japanese. The Arizona was essentially non salvageable but the Oklahoma could have been salvaged and restored to service. The reason of course was that the ship wasn't worth the outlay of resources and manpower to bring her back to service. At best the ship wouldn't have been ready before early 1945 and that would have after extensive repair in the US. All this for a battleship comissioned before WW1.

But...

The Oklahoma could have been returned to service. The hull, although ripped apart, really wasn't damaged any more than the West Virginia's and could have been patched well enough to get the ship back to the US by late 1943. She would have been a year behind the WeeVee as far as getting back into service but it was doable. Personally, I wouldn't put the effort forth but it would be nice to have the Oklahoma show up early in 1944 with 99sys and 99Eng damage at San Fran or even the East Coast.

Arizona was a write-off, but the Oklahoma was little better and took years even to get it back upright.  I believe it was eventually pumped out enough to be towed back to the West Coast but foundered & went under in bad weather on the journey.
However,  it could legitimately be argued that all of the seriously damaged BB's at PH, with the exceptions of the Tenessee and the Pennsylvania which weren't too badly knocked about (at least hull-wise),  it was simply not worth bothering with the others - California,  West Virginia and Oklahoma were, in theory,  sunk wrecks and the Nevada wasn't much better off either.  the Japanese had proved beyond any doubt that the day of the battleship was over & the US would have been better off using their limited resources (at least in the first half of '42 it genuniely was limited) to shore up other more vital surface & shore units & build/convert as many flat-tops as was possible, or failing that smaller ships like DD's to act as escorts for the tankers & supply-convoys.  The repair shhops & docks oculd have been far better utilised than trying to patch/fix a load of battlewagons whose day had already past by.

That happened to me here, with the Tennessee or California (forget which) in the first run I took at AE. I _thought_ I had done enough repairs to get the BB back to the west coast where I had more shipyard space but about 1/2 way there it foundered.

Nice touch.
