I am playing as the allies (both UK ans US) the 1941 Barbarossa Campaign. It is February 1942 and the US still has not entered the war. Should I have saved up diplomatic points to make the US enter the war or is it just a random event?

Also I noticed that the axis does not make for a very good defence of north africa. They often leave airgroups in the front line! Are there plans to remedy this in a future patch?.
