Sounds very interesting how are you gonna wargame it exactly?

Nothing fancy as we don't have time for anything more sophisticated. Map wargame with umpire. The key point with the game is to hear what operational assessments the students have done and what decisive points they have identified, though.

New page. Third in a row.

What was the award for that - the "Terminus Star" with clusters?

Nik, I read Hastings' Overlord many years ago.  I remember enjoying it, but remember very little else about it, other than it seemed to be an easy read.

Yes, you promised we were going to do a Third Reich game once upon a time too........

When we're in our rocking chairs on the porch at the old folks home.

I'd consider Third Reich on vassal, but I'm not sure how well it would play out with the interactive steps in each turn, Naval Interceptions, Defensive Air Support, etc. If those could be worked out, then I'd have to dig out my 3rd edition rulebook and start re-reading. It's only been around 20 years since I played.

Having 3 players is fun!  Enter the conflict between the Western Allies and the Soviets.

Its been good so far. Also like it focuses more on some areas vs. the other which nicely fills in holes and answers questions. Just finished his "Bomber Command" book as well.

Unlike IT, prostitution rarely experiences downturns.

i suppose. Bummer really. Should have known it was too good to be true. They did not advertise themselves as a staffing company in the original add....then when i got the call, the "recruiter" was typically evasive to some pointed questions i had. Still.....there were some attractive aspects so I did some research. Thank god for research. Big letdown.

ah well.........doing a first in other news. I just finished D'Este's Decision at Normandy which i had picked up at a used bookstore for a steal.......I had noticed that said same used bookstore also had a cheap copy of Hasting's Overlord so I picked tha up yesterday. So for the first time, i'm reading consecutive back to back accounts on the same battle/campaign/subject. Should prove interesting to see another author's take and approach on a battle with the previous account still fresh in one's mind.

I'd look at it like more a close escape than a lost opportunity. Sorry to hear about it tho.

Read both, liked both. Been too long to remember any differences in opinion or emphasis, however. Never thought to read back-to-back books on the same topic. I have to think of a topic now.

Just been that kind of year. Maybe next year will be different.

So far, both authors are pretty much in line with each other. Hasting's is more outspoken about the Whermacht's tactical superiority which would not sit well with some but D'Este pretty much indicates the same thing. I'm learning alot about Montgomery.

Finished two nights ago. I might start another one considering I played the first few areas as well as the enchantment monkeyboy would.
