CV Torp Reload?

I am having torp reload problems for my carrier based torpedo planes. I docked at a size 7 port with three CVs and the cvs didn't completely replenish torps. I waited till the size 7 base had over 20K supply, is there a further requirement to completely rearm torps?

I think you have to make sure you have a naval HQ at the base to supply the torpedoes. they will expend supply to arm your naval planes with torpedoes, also you have to sometimes manually set the numbers of torpedoes some HQ's will have on hand. There's a button somewhere, sorry can't remember where exactly, on the HQ's screen, that you have to set how many torpedoes will be available. Others HQ's like Combined Fleet HQ will automatically supply the number needed if enough supply is on hand. Hope this helps a bit. Same applies to your land based air units, I learned that lesson, AF size doesn't matter, you have to be in the same hex of, or within range of, the units Air HQ.

You may also have run the port in question out of Ops points for the current turn before all the ships filled up. In that case the folks who did not get torps this turn will next turn. Happens to me frequently at busy ports.

Will having an supplied-up AE or AKE ship on standby/disbanded/at anchor in the same hex help or does that only help refil surface ships?

pmath- Fleet HQs don't have a button to hit for torps. AF HQ do. See recent post in Tech forum re torp supply.

My question is- Is an Air Force HQ responsible for supplying torps to my CVs? Is that how AE works? Or, are we all missing something here.

Please, one of you REALLY knowledgeable people clear this up for us.

Sorry, Hugh, I don't know about the HQ part, but I wanted to tell xj that in my experience AEs definitely will reload both the torpedoes and sorties on a CV, if anchored at a base (even just a dot base) and the CV TF chooses replenish at sea. I just performed that action with the Lexington TF in a dot island hex.

Thanks for confirming that,  I've got two CV's running on empty at Sydney and am sending an AE over from Pearl to join them.  Will remember to hit the 'replentish at sea' option to reload/rearm

bradfordkay-No, it's my turn to be sorry. In the post you refer to, I meant AE to stand for Admiral's Edition, not an AE ship.

Thanks for the input. But, my question still stands. "Are USAAF HQs responsible for supplying torps to my CVs?"

I do know about AEs(ships) reupping CV TFs. Did that at Wake a while back. HB

It is mostly the port running out of ops points. Usually it takes 2 days for my CV TFs to completely rearm - they load fuel and gun ammo on the first day and then replace sorties / torps on the second day. And a size 7 port should be able to do it on its own - use an AKE in smaller ports to allow.

The post about rearming at a dot base shocks me, are yo sure there was no ships there, usually all ships at sea can do is transfer fuel, not get Reloads in early war, Seems something about ae latter in the war at sea.. I would like some rules crarification on ports needing HQ's for torps from the folks here who know

In my case it was a replenishment TF with an AE in it that replenished the trops and sorties for the CV at a dot base hex. I'm at work so I can't check the manual but I can't see any reason why they couldn't be anchored in a level 0 port hex. I have noticed that you no longer need to have a level 3 port to disband in Admiral's Edition, so a level 0 harbor should be as good as a level nine harbor for ship to ship replenishment IMO.

ok, my thought was twofold, I did not see they where pulling from an AE.. so you DID have an AE ship anchored? That makes sense, an AE cannot rearm at sea until 44?? afaik, but CAN rearm in a port with sufficient supplies and time... thanks for that//
What about non ae based ports, ie not containing an AE ship, What do they need? Sorry at this point the manual is pretty worthless, not as a general guide but as these things often are tweeked I would like a dev team member to comment.. thanks guys for a great game
