Can anyone tell me when the first historical movements of troops out of the Kwangtung Army occurred? I was thinking of setting this in a house rule, but I can't find information on dates. Thanks.

I would say first units were moved to the outer perimeter in mid 1943. Many islands got garrisons from mixed and independent brigades/regiments. Usually such force was a battalion or two of infantry from some division/brigade supplemented by AA/ART/ENG ... But I think these are in game as reinforcements. As for larger formations, look at Marianas/western New Guinea/Phillippines divisions and compare them with China/Kwantung units.

I think some of the Heavy Artillary units were used at Bataan in the PI so early 42.

Actually, many of the troops you have on ships 12-07-41 were stripped from the Kwangtung Army, so technically, they started moving units in and out of Korea and Manchuria as soon as the war started.

However, it was more likely that they would take veteran battalions and regiments and replace them with raw recruits, moving their better soldiers to active fronts and weakening the Kwangtung Army over time.
