I have a problem that TOAW sometimes stucks. It is very annoying if happens in the middle of PBEM game. I have to reload the game then. Is there any possibility to save the game every now and then when u are making your PBME moves and then continue from thesaved position? Here is a screenshot. The screen turns into grey and the windows says that "not responding" (=ei vastaa)

You can save your turn as often as you wish.

However, before you conclude that TOAW has crashed, be aware that there are operations (such as the interturn calculations or scrolling of very large maps, for example) that may take significant time to complete on some machines. Employ some patience. Go off and do something else for a while and when you come back, you may find the game back in operation.

The "not responding" message doesn't prove that the game has crashed - it just may be busy with an operation that doesn't allow interuption.

Wow, that's nuts. A white screen. C. Lemay is right. Here's how I see it:

If you have a machine that's running Vista like yours appears to be make sure you have plenty of memory. I'm guessing that if you didn't have enough memory (Vista will take ALOT) to run the OS and the game plus other programs I see on that screenie and try to scroll on a big map you will probably start running into some heavy virtual memory usage. That's where the OS starts using the hard drive to store memory cuz your real memory is topped out.
Virtual memory is much slower and because the OS is swapping memory with the hard drive it will all take a bit of time.

Try closing all the other programs you have running and pay attention to how much work your hard drive is doing when you scroll the map. If your hard drive is really chugging away while you scroll I'd say you should get another gig or two of memory.

Just my opinion fwiw.
