Dixie continues his attacks on coastal sites, but this time I was able to sneak onto a Hurricane IV raid (18 killed) and 3 Italian units jumped an P-39 unit attacking a radar site - hehehe this unit suffered and will probably have a bad morale now.

BC did not attack this turn, therefor I had time to reorganize my railroad FlaKs.......they will now protect the NF bases in northern Germany, only hazzle....it will take up to 6 days for the railroad FlaK to move to their new sites.......but as soon they are there, Dixie will have to be more careful with his NIs and bomber command (there are often also spotlights at the heavy FlaK sites)

I no start to change the Fw190A-5 production to the A-6 ( one site every other turn)

Once again no deep raids, but many many coastal ones....Dixie wants to shut down some of my radars....
I only attacked one unescorted bomber raid during the day and I tried to attack two BC raids in the night (with only one kill and also one loss :( )

here is my top pilot list at the moment - so far it has been a quiet game.

Once again no dangerous daylight raids by Dixie.....but no the less several annoying raids in France and Italy.....he is starting to attack the industry around Paris.....he wants to make some friends with the French.

BC makes a nice raid with full useage of the waypoints to Bremen and surroundings....I get a few of his bombers and his NIs get 4 NFs.....not good...

Here the situation after a raid in Italy:

turn 9:
silent turn....9 Allied losses and two Axis losses.

Only one FW190A-5 plant left
I will now start the production of the Do217 plants (one after another in each turn) to Me410 --- I will need more of those for 43 and early 44.

My boys were able to intercept a coastal raid in france (probably from the 2nd TAC), we missed several Typhoon anti radar raids and also some attacks on ports and RRs.......main effort was above the Low Countries versus an 8th AF raid.
This raid was well protected, but we made it through the escort screen and killed a few bombers from a single bomber box.

BC was very active!
First there was a raid close to the Ruhr vally to draw up my nightfighters......next NIs moved in fast....tons of NIs.....and than BC´s main forces attacked the coastal sites at the North Sea in several waves.

and here the losses of the day (still no German Aces)

My losses against the 8TH AF raid were low......but I need to be more careful with the cannon fighters.....all 4 were killed by escorts!

Three of my night losses were due to enemy NIs ....but this time my NF pilots were able to kill several of his heavy bombers (3 Halifax and 5 Lancaster were killed by nightfighters!)

turn 11:

more tactical raids....probably the best fighter killer for the Allied is the Marauder this turn........I lost more fighters to Marauders than I killed Marauders....
In Italy the German units were moved back to the Rome area (all units with 75+ morale) or to northern Italy ( all other units) - the Italians will keep up the fight for the time being.
In the night BC and 205th Group are active....BC attacked a industrial site near Paris and 205th Group attacked an important RR - Italian NF were not able to shoot down any bomber.

Losses for this turn were 39 Axis for 59 Allied A/C......with 28 Bf109 (G-5,G-6, G6/R6) and with a bunch of British Mustangs (24x I and 11x IA)

Here a picture of the skirmishes with the Allied tactical forces.

turn 12:
more tactical raids.....one Spitfire patral/sweep shot down 3 Bf109G-6 and one Bf109G-5......that´s all losses for the Axis this day.

Industry: finished changing the Do217 NFs to something more useful....next the 406 plants will be changed to 109....

turn 13:

In Italy Dixie makes a huge pre-invasion effort and attacks with all he has available down there.........Luftwaffe has been moved away from the front....and the Italians stay grounded

In the West mostly tactical raids in several waves....for the first time Dixie starts to target A/Fs here....but only with little success....most often my interceptors are to late or too bad timed for a good intercept....but I was able to hit one Typhoon raid (12 Tiffies killed )
8th AF attacks coastal oil sites in France.........

BC was very busy during the night and attacked several cities with several streams......his NI targeted the old NF bases.....but nothing starts or lands there during the night.....my NFs were able to kill 10 enemy bombers this night.....this can be called a little victory

Thanks for your DAR Swift! It's look like that you use new patched version (interceptors line). Thus it is much clearly than before.

turn 14:

Luftwaffe is grounded............
Allied forces fly heavy pre invasion ground attacks in Italy and in France he is attacking A/Fs during the day and night with mixed results.

Only light losses on both sides.

And at the end of the turn:
INVASION!!!
my ground forces are prepared and start to delay the Allied advance....but how long?

turn 15:
resting for the LW until I got angry about enemy bombings...and I tried to hit a Typhoon raid.......was not worth the effort ^5 Axis to around 20 Allied A/C lost......

@ Swift

Please go some more into details about interception.

Do you regularly start patrols?

Should staff units only be launched with their appropriate Gruppen?

What is a reasonable interception ratio for bomber and fighter raids?

Should one intercept opposing raids asap, or rather wait till their fighter escorts need to return?

Till what range it makes sense to launch interceptors?

Hi Lützow,

quote:

Do you regularly start patrols?

I use patrols to move units around to a better interception point, but I seem to use patrol much less than in BoB.

quote:

Should staff units only be launched with their appropriate Gruppen?

what for?

quote:

What is a reasonable interception ratio for bomber and fighter raids?

?? interceptors vs enemy fighters or bombers...or what?
I usually aim against the highest or lowest level escorts....or against the slowest...
I usually do not have enough units around to overwhelm the enemy with numbers

quote:

Should one intercept opposing raids asap, or rather wait till their fighter escorts need to return?

depends on the game or time of the game or importance of the attacked sites.....
if an raid is not attacked it can make a clear nice bomb run and may destroy the target
if something is attacked heavily it may aport the mission.....

quote:

Till what range it makes sense to launch interceptors?

depends on the range of the raid......if it coastal only near interceptors will get near enough...if it is a dayligh Berlin raid....you may use the Zerstörer from the Vienna area to intercept.....

but rough numbers used by me.....100 miles for daylight raids and 200 miles for night interceptions

turn 16:

Italy....Allied forces make several tactical raids with no problems......I still ground my forces in the south......but the rested German JG77 is moved to A/Fs around Rome as well as parts of JG 52. The few SG Gruppen are farther north in the Florence/Bologna region.

France/Low Countries:
several tactical raids...very often against empty A/Fs.... I had to pull back some units. The German forces tried to intercept one tactical raid and an heavy 8th AF raid (against an AFAC target in the Paris suburbs) with mixed results - 17 interceptors were lost, but we were able to kill a few of the enemy Spitfire forces too.

The main action of this turn was the night.....BC was very activ with several raids on cities and industries in the Ruhr valley.

Here is the picture before my NFs got lucky.....

and here is the situation two hours later......Bf110 and Do217 pilots were able to kill several Lancasters....and they were also able to escape the annoying NIs most of the time!

and here are the A/C losses of this turn.....
I am not happy about my daylight losses, but at least they where able to kill some of the Spitfires.
During the night, Dixie had his NIs patrolling several of my active NF bases, but still my NF losses were half due to enemy bomber gunners....

turn 20:

In Italy only tactical raids against my retreating troops north and east of Neaples.....

losses: 13 Allied vs 7 Axis

bad weather, but Dixie´s tactical forces are still very active.
BC visited every port on the French Atlantic coast.

only minimal losses on both sides - a Fw190A-5, a Sterling and a Lancaster......

turn 23:
first Allied attacks are made from the Italian mainland bases.....the Luftwaffe units in Italy are rested and well prepared....but they are opportunistic and wait for the right time....

In France and the Low Countries all raids were close range tactical strikes......one A/F was hit with 5 ground losses for me

In the night Dixie continued his effort against the French Atlantic coast - this time a few aircraft industries were hit.

10:10 losses......so nothing bad.....I have 1000+ A/C in stock now

turn 24:

the usual skirmish stuff - 4 Axis A/c lost for 15 Allied A/Cs.....it seems that Dixie is waiting for some escorts.......but in the meantime my industry is busy producing all kinds of stuff!
