I had interesting battle for Greece. Playing as human Axis (Germany, Italy and Persia), with AI controlling axis minors (rumania, hungary, croatia and ukraine). After Italy had driven to gates of Alexandria in N Africa, America entered the war and reversed allied fortunes there. Italy abandoned N. Africa and fortified Sicily and southern Italy against an allied invasion. Italy then turnedit's attention to Greece. Italy jumpedoff from Albania and Yugoslavia. Bulgaria DOW on Greece, but interestingly enough, didn't join the Axis alliance. Italian forces swept across Greece, easily taking the northern cities. As Italian forces bore down on Athens, British and American forces began to make an appearance. Two German armored corps were called from the Eastern front. Axis forces had the allies pinned against Athens. It was a stale mate. After losing one of the German corps, the axis backed up the pennisula in order to get more local superiority (4 hexas vs 2 hexes). Using Italian air superiority to engage with bombers, using naval support and combined attacks of German and Italian forces, the Americans lost 6 armored corps. Now facing smaller infantry corps, the axis made their way back down toward Athens. Axis forces were able to get adjacent to Athens and cut the remaining American units on the western part of Greece out of supply by paradropping units into the last remaining supply source open to them. Within the next week Athens fell, the Americans abandoned Greece, the British abandoned Cyprus, and Greece surrendered. The battle for Greece was won.

This was an interesting battle in my solo game. The battle lasted from the winter of 43 to the end of summer 43. On August 1 1943, Germany has pushed the Russians to the brink of surrender (almost off the east edge of the map). Persian and German units control most of southern Russia, with only one city still in Russian control. In the North the large desolate forest areas of Russia are still in Russian control. Finland is at 82% to join the axis. Allies control N Africa except for Vichy areas. Turkey and Bulgaria still nuetral in the East. Norway and Sweden still Nuetral in the North. Spain and Portugal nuetral in the West. Persia controls Iraq.

Due to quirky events whenever I try to invade, I have refrained from trying to invade England and Norway. Wondering if or when the allies will try and invade France. May have to go after Turkey next.

Great game. Really enjoy it. Very addictive game play.

Yes the game is a lot of fun. I am also playing the axis against the AI. Not as far advanced as you but I have manage to take out Moscow in October 1940. Do the russians ever surrender or do you have to take out every city on the map?

The VP cities, with the VP numbers in green circles on the regular map, must all be taken.  This is a very tough task in 1.7 in my experience.  Just as in the actual war the Axis often end up managing a fight on multiple fronts, which is "fun".
